Almost certain those tentacles were only aiming at you, because you're the one summoning them, if we want to put some lore behind the mechanic of "call big ouch on enemies, better dodge it yourself though" xD

Wander: "I like to have dog ammo during this fight." Also Wander: picks up a spear from the ground and throws it at the boss. Me after seeing that: "I think boss meant to impale you with that, not vice versa."
