Very true, I'm sure these activities are more difficulty after knee replacement surgery... but hopefully with some practice they are beneficial and you will see some improvements in your walking.

Nothing was working previously and this IS... I can't thank you enuf!!!

Hello I just saw your video for the first time. I just recently was just taught how to walk heal toe. The big step help me. I'm in the total knee replacement surgery 9 wks January 11. I've been in a lot of pain but I still do my exercise at home and I walk at least 1400-1600 steps every other day plus 3x therapy and just found out that the Dr have to manipulate my knee. Not very happy about it bcuz I've been working hard. Looking forward to do more exercise. Your video are very helpful to me. Thank you sir. John 3:16🙏✝️🛐💙

Thank you for watching and sharing. Hopefully the manipulation will be very helpful and you'll notice improved range of motion in your knee and improved walking. Keep walking and exercising and you will see the benefits of your hard work.

Here is an exercise to improve going up and down stairs better but has similar principles for going uphill and downhill: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e5ZxZ9uLm62miGg.html Some things that will also help you are building strength through the quadriceps and glutes through exercise and practicing uphill and downhill walking either land-based or using a treadmill.

I had to get an emergency surgery after an accident and they put a rod in my femur. They went through the knee. It's been 3 and a half months and it's my knee that is the reason I still can't walk all this time later. I appreciate your video!

I am 75 yo and almost 4 mths post op. I achieved satisfactory ROM within a few weeks. I have built up to about 1200 to 1500 steps a day and can manage the full heel to toes walking motion. But every step is painful, albeit at relatively low level of 1 to 2 on a scale of 10. The pain stays quite constant throughout the walk but I get some increased swelling. I usually elevate and ice and massage after walking. Should I be showing more progress in walking normally without the pain ? What else should I do?
@KneeReplacementTherapists
@KneeReplacementTherapists 10 ай бұрын
To still have some pain with walking is definitely not abnormal. As long as the pain stays at this lower intensity, I would actually recommend to just continue what you are doing. Your knee is still healing and there is still going to be some inflammation as well as nerve sensitivity. The more you walk and keep your normal routine the more the body adapts and tolerates this activity with less pain and discomfort. Hope this helps!

I haven’t had any surgery but I do have a torn meniscus in my right knee. For some reason I don’t know how to talk normally with my left knee anymore. It’s like I don’t know how to extend it regularly when I walk and I feel like when I stand on it my knee is always slightly bent. I’m scared to force myself in an unnatural standing position. I forgot how to walk and stand basically. I also have pain in my good knee now when bending it so it can only get to like 130 degrees. As for my bad knee I can’t extend it all the way it feels stuck. Does anyone else have this issue
@KneeReplacementTherapists
@KneeReplacementTherapists 7 ай бұрын
Lack of range of motion can be common with a torn meniscus. It sometimes feels like the knee is locked. You probably know how to walk it’s just you don’t have the mobility in the knee. Physical therapy is a good option to see if this can be addressed.

Can we perform splits after TKR?
@KneeReplacementTherapists
@KneeReplacementTherapists Жыл бұрын
I don't believe splits are contraindication but I believe it will be more a concern about comfort and tolerance of being in this position. The vast majority of people will probably not tolerate or have increased pain in this position.
