I love showing you guys interesting ammunition. This video is about a retro .38 Special Target Ammo that was made right here in Nebraska, but saw use in police departments around the whole United States.

🇦🇺😎👍I love the 38s . I load then way past the max for special effects and better results. Cool little gun , too bad they are illegal for target shooters down here. ( full-size guns only ) ( for safety 😉)…cool history mate…great video Big John🏁

Australia's gun laws are aggressively silly. I feel sorry for you brother. If you ever visit the free state of Nebraska, give me a hollar.

I remember buying and shooting this ammo back in the early 90s. I recall it was reloaded ammo and that it shot well.

Back in my Cop and Firearms Instructor Days, we used them in Police Pistol Combat (aka: PPC) Target Competiton. Wadcutters were made to cut a nice clean hole in the target, making it easier to score. Wadcutters were harder to use in speedloaders, because of their flat face. We would bevel or chamfer the edges of the cylinder holes, to allow for faster reloads. I didn't use 3D ammo when I shot competition, but they made ammo, targets and some other accessories as I remember. Many Departments used wadcutters for training, not only for easy target scoring by Instructors, but lighter recoil until Academy Students showed enough skill to go to full loads. However, Defense Ammo was not like it is today, with advance bullet technology and loadings. In some cases, people would use wadctters in sub nose revolvers for defense. It was known that the Cutting Action of the bullet and flat nose shape was more effective that round nose ammo. Hollowpoint back then were hit and miss as far as expansion and terminal ballistics, until you got into Magnum Velocities. Most times the penetration was adequate on human targets, using wadcutters. It's one of the reasons that companies like Buffalo Bore and Underwood, load modern, hotter loads with wadcutter type bullets today.

'R-P' is Remington Peters,.'FC' could either be Federal Cartridge Corp. or PPU made for Yugoslavia, which might be the case based on the date. Nice video. Good luck with the M36...love those little guys. Was a long time J-frame carrier.

I want to second your recommendation for always wearing safely glasses when shooting. I've been shooting for only 3 years and I've had 3 instances where safety glasses saved me from eye injury. Two were ruptured cases. One was just the muzzle blast reflecting off a piece of metal near the muzzle, with my face a bit closer to the gun. Like you, I shoot a lot of older milsurp guns and ammo (both case ruptures were old milsurp ammo where the case had corroded from the inside out and was not visibly damaged on the outside.

Recently I was shooting 22lr through an AR with a CMMG conversion kit. Afterwards, I looked at my glasses and they were covered with muck. It probably wouldn’t have been too serious, but it definitely would have been irritating.

Cool! Wadcutter means it’s flat nosed and recessed inside the case. I’d like to do a video soon on revolver cartridge bullets.

I've loaded hollow base wad cutters base forward. Huge hollow point. They have double ended, bevel base and hollow base wadcutters.
