I enjoy my KP15 PSA retro build with A1, A2 and A4 stuff going on.. because it upsets so many people haha Im getting a modern AR10 and i plan on spray pinting the furniture brown for a retro feel. That should ruffle some feathers.

I have some spare parts built up with my KP-15, and I'm considering buying a C7 upper to make a "M16a1*" with some A2 improvements (like the handguard and brass deflector) and a KP-15 lower

Great video! I love the Retro AR-15's because I learned to shoot centerfire rifle on a Colt AR-15A2 back in 1990. I just got done building a USAF GAU-5/A/A version of the XM-177E2 with all new parts including Luth-Ar slick side upper, Brownells A1 11½" chrome lined barrel,4½" flash hider with grenade ring pinned and welded, Essential Arms aluminum CAR stock on a 6-position buffer tube and a Black Nitride m-16 bolt carrier. I wanted the XM-177E2 style with a few modern coatings and finishes. Next on the build list is a XM-16E1 clone with 3 prong flash hider and under barrel 37mm flare launcher.

I'd also like to do an XM-16e1, although M16a2 may come first.

@@8mmmauserman The A2 is what I learned on and that rear sight is overly complicated and expensive bullshit. It Jack's up the price about $90 and it gets turned while humping it around the deer lease and loses zero. I prefer the A1 rear sight because you need a bullet or tool to adjust it. I prefer Set it and Forget it. Over the past 34 years I've never shot over 200 except for at the Target Range so I don't need the USMC target A2 rear sight bullshit. Plus I can't tell you how many times people turn the knobs when they look at it. I jump their shit and tell them "Now I have to Zero the rifle All over because you fiddle FUCKED my knobs." It's like a damned idiot magnet.

I hadn’t realized until I saw this video the extent to which retro AR family rifles are a “thing”. I kinda sorta knew they had some degree of popularity but you are obviously a dedicated enthusiast and you are apparently far from alone (or you wouldn’t have made this video). I too am a Vietnam war buff; have known many vets, served among them in the active duty army of the 1980s, and carried an M-16A1 as my service weapon. In fact, serving with the 4th Infantry Division during the mid eighties, most of our equipment generally was Vietnam era as we were a relatively low priority unit for getting new equipment. I even wore the old steel pot helmet. My participation in this particular hobby is limited to the fact of my lone AR being a Windham Weaponry “Government Model A1”, which is essentially a semiautomatic only hybrid of the M-16A1 and M-16A2. While reminiscent of my old service arm, it has non period correct features that for me are still quite necessary (e.g., the brass deflector, being left handed). Interesting video, got you a sub. Now let’s see that carrying handle vs. flat top discussion!
@8mmmauserman
@8mmmauserman 2 күн бұрын
Thanks for the kind and interesting comment. I've heard interesting stories here and abroad of people being issued carry handle rifles. Interestingly the A1 rifles with brass deflectors are pretty highly sought after. In the Battle of Mogadishu, a number of the delta force carbines were C7 uppers made by Colt Canada. I'd like to put one together kind of as a modernized M16a1.

I don't really think this film is future prophesy or leftist propaganda. It doesn't really have a political message at all beyond the implication of making a film about civil war in the U.S. at all. As for not knowing who was killing who I think you're right that it was intentional; we are definitely missing a scene somewhere that adds just a bit of context, even if only posing the question to the audience more obviously. Also I think if anything the film paints gun ownership positively, the town that seemed isolated from the war the crew pass through is only kept peaceful, ostensibly, by an armed civilian garrison. Pretty good movie overall I guess, it's fine. I don't think they should have made the film overtly political, but I do think making a film about civil war in the U.S. and having it stripped of anything political can only hurt that story. I guess what I'm getting at is maybe don't make this movie. Make a film about civil war somewhere else, make it political, as civil wars are.

27 over a 30 any day. Gen 5 if you want a thicker slide with a softer recoil impulse or gen 3 if you want the slimmer more comfortable to conceal slide but a bit harsher recoil impulse. Much less holster options for the gen 5 too as the gen 3 fits any g26 holster but the gen 5 has to have its own mold since the slide is thicker. G30 is way too thick for edc in my opinion and i highly prefer .40 over .45 especially for a carry gun.

@8mmmauserman Thank you, so far I've discovered that the only surplus ammo that would be "safe" in it is Romanian 154 grain rounds, as it's a lower pressure round. Also PPU 8mm which is loaded anemic to 30-30 pressures. I don't reload yet so I can't do that at the moment, so those choices of ammo will do.
