After a long cold winter here in the north east of England, we go to the allotment to tidy up, paint the shed, trim the hedge, make a new compost bay and give the plot some much needed TLC.

@@FoodThymeAndGardenthank you for your kind words, we cared for my mother who passed 2021 and my dad has just passed in February, mother had dementia and my dad had Parkinson’s..since they’ve gone we’ve been a bit lost so decided KZfaq to fill our time in and it’s definitely getting us off the sofa 😊 xx

@@debbieginge Debbie, good for both of you because at times such as those it's so difficult to see through the fog not knowing if the sun will ever shine again. I lost both of my parents too, so I know what you both are going through. One day at a time, not saying it will get better, but it will get to be a different way of seeing through the fog until the sun shines again, and that my dear it does eventually shine through. I am reminded back to when I was a child growing up in Florida, watching the tall Pine trees bending in the wind, taking note that they bend but do not break. I have been that pine tree for almost 66 yrs now. Take care of each other and keep pulling those weeds. Keeping the hands busy helps. Hugs from Laura in Canada

@@FoodThymeAndGarden I’m 56 and I’d never lost anyone until my mother August 2021 but I don’t believe I grieved as at that time we were also caring for dad with Parkinson’s and since dad died in February I’m at a loss. I’ve been to their grave tonight and still can’t believe they’re gone, when you spend 10 years caring with every aspect of their lives and then they’re not here anymore it’s a strange feeling. When it was difficult we kept saying we will get our time one day but when that day came it wasn’t like I expected, we’re older now and need to find our path just the two of us 😢 mam was 82 and dad 87 and they had great lives , dad wanted to go 😢 my allotment has helped me all through the hard times and will help me get through these times 😊 xx
