It is so true about weeds wait for no man. My back yard looks a state and yet it is lovely in its own way. The ticks are really bad this year here in Ontario, so the lawn in the back can wait. Take care my two dear friends across the pond and happy gardening. Your tomatoes looks amazingly beautiful.

Thanks Laura 😊 in between work and decorating the allotment went wild again, I’m thinking every year I have vegetables growing which covers the beds and either hides the weeds or suppresses them…uncovered beds the weeds take over 😬 I’m determined to be set ready for next year ☺️🙏

Saving a baby hedgehog no better day than that. What a cutie it was. That was quite the fall into the hedge, I hope you are not too sore after that. At my age I'd be down for days recouping. Bravo to you both. Take care from Laura in Canada

Hi Laura, hope you’re doing well, there’s loads of hedgehogs at my plot and come autumn I weigh them as some are too small to hibernate and I over winter them at home( I can’t see animals suffer 😢) I was sore from the fall and black and blue down my right leg but it’s ok now. We’ve just got back from the plot been turning the compost bays and a couple of drinks as it’s my last day off work 😕 but getting jobs done ready for next year ☺️🙏 take care from Debbie xx

@@debbieginge Good Evening over there across the pond from me. I'm happy to hear your feeling better from the fall. The compost bins are the worst job on a plot or in my garden because it is so labor intensive for me to turn the heavy compost from my bins. I've started to remove my bin which is open at the bottom on to a tarp and flip it back and forth that way. Then gather up the four corners of the tarp containing the compost if not too full, and dump it back to the bin. otherwise I would not be up to the task of turning the compost. My poor old back stops me in my tracks and won't let me LOL.. It's been in the 30's C here all week and will be for the rest of the week. All my plants are under shade cloth to save them from the sun and heat. Hope you have a good rest of the week and take care, from Laura in Canada

@@FoodThymeAndGarden great idea using the tarp think I may try that 😊 I’ve probably picked the best year not to grow anything as it’s done nothing but rain and cold here and we’re still putting our heating on in July 😬 xx

@@FoodThymeAndGardenthank you for your kind words, we cared for my mother who passed 2021 and my dad has just passed in February, mother had dementia and my dad had Parkinson’s..since they’ve gone we’ve been a bit lost so decided KZfaq to fill our time in and it’s definitely getting us off the sofa 😊 xx

@@debbieginge Debbie, good for both of you because at times such as those it's so difficult to see through the fog not knowing if the sun will ever shine again. I lost both of my parents too, so I know what you both are going through. One day at a time, not saying it will get better, but it will get to be a different way of seeing through the fog until the sun shines again, and that my dear it does eventually shine through. I am reminded back to when I was a child growing up in Florida, watching the tall Pine trees bending in the wind, taking note that they bend but do not break. I have been that pine tree for almost 66 yrs now. Take care of each other and keep pulling those weeds. Keeping the hands busy helps. Hugs from Laura in Canada

@@FoodThymeAndGarden I’m 56 and I’d never lost anyone until my mother August 2021 but I don’t believe I grieved as at that time we were also caring for dad with Parkinson’s and since dad died in February I’m at a loss. I’ve been to their grave tonight and still can’t believe they’re gone, when you spend 10 years caring with every aspect of their lives and then they’re not here anymore it’s a strange feeling. When it was difficult we kept saying we will get our time one day but when that day came it wasn’t like I expected, we’re older now and need to find our path just the two of us 😢 mam was 82 and dad 87 and they had great lives , dad wanted to go 😢 my allotment has helped me all through the hard times and will help me get through these times 😊 xx
