Thanks for the information!! I have the ugliest feet on the planet! Just because I used to wear other people shoes in dances etc. I will get the toes separate with the device that you suggested!!! I am very cautious when I purchase my shoes now than before, and that really help too!!! Thanks

Excellent video. I was a ballroom dancer who danced in high heeled pointy toe shoes for hours a day for many years. I am sure this is what caused my bunions. I have been lucky because they do not cause me any pain. However, I want to get rid of them because they prevent my foot from functioning correctly. I have been doing what you suggested. Threw out pretty much every shoe I owned. I bought some Altras, Splay, and SoftStar primal shoes. I also lift weights and quit wearing the heeled constrictive shoes for squatting and got some Reebok Power Light Mids. I also have been wearing toe spacers. I have Correct Toes and Wild Toes. I know Correct Toes have rave reviews but they are pretty uncomfortable. I like Wild Toes much better. I have been also doing some toe stretching and arch strengthening exercises. I will check out the ones you suggested. I have also found that some barefoot shoes are not as wide as others so I have to be careful which ones I buy since my foot is wide. For example, Vivobarefoot seem to be on the narrower side as far as barefoot shoes go.

Good point! All barefoot/minimal shoes are different. Even models from the same company can be vastly different. Because feet come in all different shapes & sizes, I recommend people try a bunch to find what fits their foot best. Please, let me know how you like the low-profile toe separators.

@@painfixprotocol I will let you know how I like the toe separators you recommended. They look very similar to Wild Toes which I find to be effective and very soft and comfortable. The Correct Toes I have are highly recommended but crazy expensive at $65!!! The material they are made of his hard but they can be cut and sort of customized. However, price wise they are crazy expensive IMO. The jury is still out on them. One thing they do allow is for you to add an additional spacer to move the big toe over further which some people may need. I wear Correct Toes part of the day and then switch to Wild Toes. Please keep up the bunion tips for us poor bunion sufferers!

@@painfixprotocol I received the toe separators you recommended and really like them. They are pretty much the same as my Wild Toes. The Correct Toes I have are much harder and not as comfortable, however they do allow you to insert a splint between big and second toe which is helpful for people where the toe is really leaning in.

I sleep in bunion separators under my sleep socks, which usually relieves my bunion pain. Amazon has a good selection. I also donate my too narrow shoes to the DSW shoe donation program, and receive buying credit for their fine selection of wider shoes. Fashionable is not always healthy...

Thank you Doc for the wisdom and safe advice. I tried to prevent bunions from my early days by strengthening the toe muscles by consciously moving the big toe away from the 2nd toe. Someone I would add a little resistance. Despite having a mild form of OA and tenderness of the joint, my toe muscles have weakened but it hasn't moved over to the 2nd toe...

You're welcome! You make an excellent point - that I didn't touch on - which is the importance of maintaining healthy joints in the feet & ankles.

Have bunions since I was 15, only starting to do something about it now, 20 years later. The pain was getting too much. Have gotten to a couple of hours a day wearing the toe spreaders and always barefoot or in barefoot shoes. Have found your videos very useful. like you said in one of your videos, Doing exercises/stretches while using toe spreaders is great. Not sure how I should check my results tho. How many months or years do you think it will take?

I assess results with objective measurements of function. For people with bunions, this is often range of motion of the big toe - in flexion/extension. With consistent application a a few simple principles, I've seen people with long-standing problems make HUGE strides in 4-6 months.

I do not have those, thank goodness! Probably because I kick my shoes off as soon as I get home and cuz if my cute shoes hurt in any way, they will just sit there looking pretty in my closet lol!!!!!

Absolutely! Shoes that hurt you need to stay off your feet. That pain is your body's way of telling you exactly that.

Not to worry, Birgul. Awareness about the damaging effects of traditional footwear is spreading fast. And more and more companies are creating health-conscious options as the demand increases. Here's a video that talks all about it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rJ6krKWgt7_Ffac.html
