Last month, my little helicopter E150 hit my leg. It broke my pants and tore a 4cm cut on my leg, it really freaked me out. This is not a toy.

People seem to not realise the dangers of rc helicopters. Regular maintenance is also a key factor to safe heli flying as well.

Yes very true. I guess i could have mention that too. Maybe I'll do a separate video on maintenance and pre flight checks type thing.

My bail out is always straight up. Plane, heli, drone. If I ever get confused or something goes wrong I just get it as far away from me and other people as fast as possible. You can replace a toy, not a person.

Kill switch is a good option too

@bjrnbulhoff499

@@adolfredohernandez9439 kill switch can help you if you are a good distance away but it's coming towards you at speed. But if the heli is very close to you in a hover and you lose orientation or whatsoever, easiest way to save yourself is pitch up. If the heli goes into the ground close to you it still can throw a bunch of pieces towards you, and if you have a certain size of heli you also have a considerable amount of momentum in the rotor system. A 700+ size won't immediately fall out of the sky by a killswitch. I definitely prefer the pitch up option about a kill switch.

Very well said helis can be dangerous for sure. But if flown right they can be a blast. I’m always cautious especially when spooling up my 450s very intimidating. Great video 👍👍👍👍

i feel like i need to make sure that you understand that there is no diffrence between heli's being dangerous. and "flying right" even when flown right they are still dangerous. make sure you realise this.

I've been flying smack 3d for a while. Being said, I've probably waisted over 10k from my crashes. Sometimes you can build everything right a fluke will send it to its grave. I almost died twice and gave up for years. Being an idiot I got sucked into this frustrating and expensive hobby again. I love it.

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I was still learning the basics and I lost orientation while it was against the sky. I couldn't tell which direction it was going and it started flying really far away. A friend helped coach me and I got it near us, but because it was facing a different direction I sent it towards my face instead of away. I jumped a second before and it whizzed by me. It was so damn close. I had no business flying while being so inexperienced. It was more of a close call than anything else. I discovered simulators and I've grown so much. Now I'm building my first turbine heli. Just curious, how long did it take you to reach this level?

Many pilots fly too close to themselves. Especially professionals. And I always hear people saying oh, they're really good. It has nothing to do with how good you are. When something goes wrong with the helicopter. It doesn't matter how great you are something's gonna happen.

I've been flying rc helis for 11 years now. I had a guy 2 years ago was bugging me to teach him to fly and I told him the truth about it. Its VERY difficult and flying a plane is way easier. Told him its gonna take ALOT of commitment, crashes and repairs. Helis at 400 size and up are dangerous and expensive to fix when you crash. Wasnt trying to scare him away but just tell him the reality of it. He saw me flying my 700 size heli doing big air stunts and 3d stuff and he was amazed.

Yeah people think they're toys. Like they're easy to fly like drones. I mentioned to a colleague briefly about flying rc helicopters and they laughed like they going it was a little kids toy. I was like no, these things can kill and are harder to handle than an airliner.

@@RCStuffvideos True. That guy that bugged me? I told him to buy a blade 250 with safe on it. Told him it will be a good starting heli. Dude goes and buys an M2 micro collective pitch. I told him thats and advanced heli, not for beginners. Lol. I set it up as soft as possible for him. He had a hard time with it but after a few weeks was starting to get the hang of it. Then he wants to buy my 550x Align heli so I sold it to him and set that up as beginner friendly as I could. Gave him many precautions of what NOT to do. Long story short I heard from a friend of mine he funked up his hand. He tried to hover in his small back yard, heli drifted towards him and he panicked and blades hit his hand. Had to get stitches and everything. He quit flying helis now and just do planes. He tried to run before learning how to walk. Lol

I'd call myself a basic to intermediate sport flier. I'm addicted but the time investment is far more than most people would imagine. I understand most of the videos don't want to scare people away but the time commitment is the elephant almost none of the videos talk about.

Good video there's way too little talk about heli safety. Heli's are amazing and I absolutely love flying them. But they can be really dangerous even if you're a amazing pilot. There's always the chance to loose orientation or have a mechanical failure happen. Anything over a 400 size wil SERIOUSLY mess you up when you get hit. For all new people in the hobby take it slow be safe and have fun.

Yen true. For these reasons people don't understand how intense it can be. Getting your heart rate up, adrenaline etc. Sometimes it can be good to mix with fixed wing or drone for easier more relaxed flying

is this one of the tips? when i loose orientation. go tail in... really? I LOST ORIENTATION!!!!! if i am able to go tail in. then i am not disoriented.. easy to say. but impossible to do.
@RCStuffvideos
@RCStuffvideos 11 ай бұрын
It's not impossible to do. You can go tail in if you're disorientated, You could be nose in and lose track of the fact the left and right is reversed and forwards and back is reversed. Just quickly input tail until it's towards you then all controls make sense. I'm not the first to suggest this.

If you want to fly and not worry about dying: get a tiny indoor RC helicopter. 👍 Your finger will actually stop the rotor, most times. Sometimes it will pinch but it's never cut my skin. That being said: It could still cut or hurt you. You are just less likely to die. ....plus: it's a challenge flying through the halls and landing it in different places. Up the challenge and turn some fans on. don't have your kids shoot Nerf darts at it, however. it will break... like you told them it would 😑😒😄

accurc is a piece of crap. the worst piece of software that has EVER been on my pc. or is it realistic that my helicopter crashes into the ground. 6 feet above the ground? might aswel remove the entire background and fly around in an empty white box. anyone that says that accuRC is a good simulator should be banned from the hobby all together. be made to watch as their models get thrown in a wood chipper.
