You’re welcome! I’m glad the video was helpful. I did the exact same thing. When I first got into helicopters, I learned a hover and then rushed to try to learn 3-D. I was crashing all the time and got discouraged and quit flying helicopters for a while, then got back into. It still didn’t learn the right way kept crashing got back out of it when I got back into it the third time I went all the way back to the beginning and learned the way I am trying to teach it, and my progression happened so fast! Quit crashing. Every flight was better than better. Really crazy how many people including my self never learned the right way.

I personally use ACCURC, it’s a a great simulator and flys the most realistic out of the ones I’ve tired. I’ve also heard HeliX is good too!

@@lechiffre2617 blade helis are great for the beginner incoming to the hobby. You get a BNF heli that will fly. Of course Align, SAB, XLpower and so on will be night and day difference between them.

Trex 470 is an awesome heli, flies so good, can do it all. Easy to work on, and parts are inexpensive.

@@mikefuchs2814 did you ever experience issues with the drivetrain on the align ? I read about locking one way bearings and lose one way bearings in the main gear. Mine is smooth so far. I shimmed the sleeve on the main shaft, but the main gear has some vertical play on the sleeve itself.

Thank you for subscribing! The easiest simulator is Real Flight. I would get the Real Flight with the remote as everything is already setup for you. There is better sims in my opinion like ACCURC or HeliX but you have to program your radio like a heli for the sim to work right. It can be a pain!

I’ve played with a lot of different FBLs and setting. The reason they say not to use EXPO in the radio is because you can have EXPO in the FBL so it’s twice the EXPO. I like to do one or the other. So EXPO in the FBL or EXPO in the radio. The biggest thing you don’t want to do is the radio is trim it. That should always be done in the FBL.

Helicopters are not for everyone, but! I think they can be. It’s all a drive and determination. It also depends on what your goals are your flying styles and what you want to accomplish. If you want to just learn how to fly around and do the basic flying never plan on going inverted or any 3-D that I think anybody and everybody can fly a helicopter. Some maneuvers are harder for some people. Piro flips is one I’ve almost got mastered, but I’ve been practicing them for almost a year! Nothing else has challenged me more than they have.

That is 100% the truth. These fundamentals build everything in flying. And anytime you get into trouble no matter what orientation the model is in you can always save it. Because you know exactly what to do.

When I started R/C it was CCPM helis and I did practice the basics. Got to where you do a U-turn like on a half-pipe and then FPV drones arrived... ^^

I know extremely good plane 3D pilots that can’t hover a heli. If you never flown a helicopter it’s a whole different story then a plane. Everything is backwards.I don’t think I’ve ever seen a plane guy pick up a heli and say that’s not much different. Orientation is what gets them every time.

Hello! Yes, a GoPro hero 8 and a head mount. You should! I record almost every flight and don’t always use every flight for videos but some times you crash or have issues and it’s always great to be able to go back and look. Or slow the video down frame by frame and see what happened!

I personally liked this video a lot as someone still trying to master the hobby. It gave a lot of info out in a way that isn't horrendously boring like that channel you are talking about. Also gave some really good exercises to start out with as well. That channel you are referring to is still good to learn from, but this video will give someone new to the hobby a pathway to follow in a much faster way.

Thinking like that can go both ways. Why make any videos? There has been helicopter videos for a long time. Why did you make a learning to fly video when there’s already learning to fly videos out there? Personally, I have never heard of that guy or seen any of his videos. Why record build videos when other people do build videos? Why post a maiden flight video on a helicopter that there’s already a medium flight video? See what I’m saying. Matt did not come up with that phrase lol that phrase has been around since the 70s. It has nothing to do with his last name. It Has to do with it being boring to practice orientations.

It’s all a personal preference on how much expo or how you want to set your expo. But yes, the higher, the head speed, the more reactive the helicopter is as you are spinning your rotor faster, which creates a faster, cyclic response and moving more air in the helicopter can be more sensitive. In the next episode on this series, we are going to go over FBL set up and how to tame the FBL down to be more beginner, friendly. On top of adding expo.

@@LichaelMewis yes definitely! Mainly because you can tune and adjust things like rotation rate, dead band and so on.

You wouldn't program a bailout in your ESC, you would do it in your FBL. He flys almost always with an Ikon 2/MSH brain FBL. They're both the same thing even though they have different names. Kind of confusing I know, but that's besides the point. Speaking from experience, the bail out works very well on them so you could easily set up a bailout on your S7 with an IKON 2. Pretty sure he is running about 1600-1800 on his Raw 580 for the majority of this video. From the research I've gathered you would probably be better suited building a Tron Dnamic if you're looking at building a 700 machine that runs off 6S, and is optimized for low head speed. The Piuma is a great option as well, I personally haven't heard anything about the Piuma having a vibration issue, but that would also be a really good option for what you're wanting. I think the Goosky S7 and the OMP M7 are more built to compete with things like a RAW 700, Tron 7.0, Specter 700 and ETC. From what I can tell they're higher head speed 12S monster helis made for 3D and Acro flying. I'm not saying you shouldn't look into them. However I am under the impression that they are going to be taking a larger 4525-4535 motor, and those motors aren't intended to run off 6S typically. Again, like Jeff himself says, buy what heli makes you happy, but I don't know if the S7 would really offer what you're wanting. This is just speculation however and I could be wrong, we still don't know all the facts about this heli yet.

@@Lance57H Thank you for your detailed explanation. I appreciate that very much. It looks like the Piuma may be the one I may choose. I have seen several videos about the low head speed problem but their is a particualr video I saw on 6S 18t pinion that was most impressive.

In normal mode, which is what I am running in this video is 1400 RPM. Bail out/Rescue is all done inside the FBL unit and the ESC bail out is for auto rotations, giving you your instant power back to save yourself in a bad auto. But what you were talking about is Rescue, which is done inside the FBL. Now, the piuma is a fantastic Heli! I love mine, but I’m running 12s. Now I’ve built a few on 6s as well. Some piuma will get a vibration at super low head speed. And the main vibration is more of a harmonic vibration, throughout the air frame. Depending on the exact targeted number you are looking for, can depend on if you will get that vibration throughout the airframe. Sometimes just raising 50 RPM will solve it. The main reason I run 12s over 6s is for flight time amperage draw and overall power that I am going after. Removing the third bearing block did nothing in my testing and experiments. I’ve read other people say drilling holes in the dampeners to soften the head up helps a lot, but my personal piuma doesn’t really vibrate. But I also don’t run that low of rpm my lowest is 1350. The Tron dynamic is supposed to be really good at Low Head speed, but I don’t have any personal experience with one to comment on that. The new S7 is going to be more geared towards the hard smack 3-D but! Any helicopter can be set up to your flying style, regardless what they intend it for. I can take my regular RAW 700 and run 6s and low head speed if I wanted but when they are designed to run as a lightweight set up, they have a smaller head smaller main frames, smaller Tail Boom diameter to try to save as much weight as possible. If you are after a 6s 700 then definitely the Piuma or Tron dynamic.

@@roberthardy7868 Solid choice, but I think before you set your mind though on the Piuma you should look up Ben Storick and see what he has been able to do with the Tron Dnamic on a 6S setup. I have his exact electronic setup on my Nimbus 550 that is now a 650 (minus the FBL because I run IKON, and not Futaba). The Xnova 4025 with the Hobbywing 150 is amazing for 6S. You could run that same setup in the Piuma as well. It's just what you whatever you want to do. I will say that SAB helis are easier to build. I wouldn't sleep on the Dnamic though. If I didn't build my Nimbus 650, I would defiantly go with the Dnamic.

@@Lance57H Thanks again Lance. I did look at the video of Ben Storick flying the Tron Dynamic and was blown away. Ben is such a talented flyer he could fly a brick and make it look good. The small amount of research I did on this heli indicated that the instruction manuals are not even close to the SAB. I have only built an Align 450 and the RS4 and never had a problem with them. If Jeff were to do a video on the Tron Dynamic, then I would probably reconsider the option more seriously.. I probably could build it but would feel more comfortable seeing a build video of this particular heli. I see that HD has a sale on this heli as a complete package: however, it only has a HW 130amp esc and whichever way I decide to go, it must and will have a HW 150 amp esc. I also plan to go with the v-bar evo if they ever get them back in stock. I want to fly internal gov so I can set the head speeds plus all the other wonder features of this radio that my DX6 2nd generation cannot do. If you know of any build videos on the Dynamic, please let me know. Thanks again for all your information and help. I found it very useful.

For me, it's true but as you said, mainly on small heli, bigger the heli goes, smaller is the difference, but on a raw 580, i see a bit more stability with high head speed than low head speed, but the main thing is to run a GOVERNOR ! It really help ! Way more stable with a locked RPM than a standard linear throttle curve :)

Yes, and no, that really all depends on the size of the helicopter. How you have the helicopter set up. On smaller machines yes, the higher, the head speed the more stable. The helicopter is to a degree. The main reason is you are spinning the rotor faster, creating more Lyft and the service can respond faster to the movement of the helicopter. But also a faster head speed can make the helicopter a lot more reactive.

Will high kv motor with big gear give same power or torque as lower kv motor with smaller gear? Or low kv powerful motor always will be winning in performance and lower power consumption?

@@cutefox8319 KV all depends on voltage. Can you go to a higher KV motor you go down in voltage. You have a targeted RPM that you really don’t want to exceed on every helicopter normally a high KV motor with a small pinion will still give you around the same RPM but your amperage is going to be a lot higher with less torque and everything is going to run hard, when you have a lower KV motor bigger, pinion more voltage, you will gain the same if not more RPM with a lot less amperage longer flight times and less heat with more torque.

@@westhobbiesrc8051 So, the higher voltage means more cells battery, means more weight, and with that extra weight it still will be more economic and longer flight than with less voltage battery with high KV motor which will make heli lighter?
