There's a video on 1320 videos of basically exactly that setup street racing in Texas I think. You should check it out, the thing even beats liter bikes IIRC. Stupid fast

5:30 - The 2.0L from the Cobalt also had a factory warranted (*If installed by GM technicians) upgrade kit that bumped power to 290hp and 340ft/lb.

The 250 hp was pretty unimpressive? It's only unimpressive because 250 hp isn't much by todays standards. Back when it came out, 250 hp in a small coup wasn't something to scoff at. The Cobalt SS was the fastest car in its price range, especially once it was offered with the Turbo. It was actually faster than many cars that cost more. It actually held the record for fastest FWD car around the Nurburgring for several years. Also, the Cobalt SS was one of the first affordable production cars to come standard with a launch control, something that at the time was mainly only seen in much more expensive vehicles.

I love the DF but the Cobalt platform is too old. How many SS doners are actually out there, preferably one with a turbo? I think Chevy sold like 8 of them.

yes but these are almost illegal so the are crappiest one that you can drive on the road caterham ariel and xbow are top of the line in this category so they arent on this list

None of these really compare to the Ariel Atom. Nearly the same power as the Deronda and a LOT more than the Goblin.

Those examples seem woefully under powered compared to the Ariel Atom V8, which has over 900 bop per tonne.

My problem with these are the price, save for the Goblin. My problem with the Goblin is the motor. Bare bones should equate in price too. I'm not asking much, they are. $50-$60k is too much for a nothing there car.

lightweight cars.....US guys put a heavy V8 in it with just 50 hp more..seems that they cant understand chapmans philosophy

original motor had 350hp per ton not 350hp. v8 had 400hp and had about 467hp/ton because car weighted under ton with it in the car. so it gained 117 horsepower and weight under 860kg thats still a light car.
