3 Freight trains meet in Berea Ohio,

16 жыл бұрынBerea Ohio is a City about 10 miles west of Cleveland Ohio and happens to have both the Norfolk Southern main line and the Csx main line running right through it. The main lines run Parallel for about a quarter of a mile before heading off in opposite directions. My family and i went rail fanning there last Saturday and Sunday we had a great time, We saw a freight train about every 10 minutes. Anyone who likes to rail fan, Berea Ohio is the place to go. I highly recommend it. Five stars people!!!

Wow! That's what i love about berea! Things like this don't happen anywhere else in ohio, and it's really a treat to see it so close to home. Great Video!

Nice catches, especially with the foreign power. Yeah, Berea is the focal point of the Conrail split, with the NS getting off the PRR and getting onto the Water Level Route and the CSX getting off the Water Level Route and heading SW where it jumps on the B&O main at Greenwich.

I've been to Berea a few time - once when they town was digging under the railroad to eliminate a grade crossing to the west of where this video was shot. One of the things I like about this spot is the restaurant converted from the train station. Good food, good prices, and you can still watch trains while eating.

Cody, as to my knowledge, there is NO sign of the station becoming a museum. The building is still For Rent, and no-one has tried buying it so far. You're right, it is a city landmark, and won't be torn down. The CSX crossing has already been removed (as of yesterday - 5/13/09), but the crossing signals still stand. The NS crossing is still fully in tact. Trains are now sounding their horn extra, for maintenance crews and etc. You must enter Berea the long way now, via Rocky River Dr.

i grew upon the westside of Cleveland and uknow Rock Port Yard is 3 miles east of this where u fliming so is the Ford Brookpark plant to

@ObeeLektro lol sorry for a late reply considering its 1 year later, but last month in Kingman AZ i saw a 178 car stack train with 5 locomotives!!!! I put that video up about 2 weeks ago. I was stunned... but that was the longest train ive ever seen so far.

Neither have I, but from what it seems, it appears that approx. 30 or more trains (all CSX) pass by the town each day.

The original road should all be removed. They might actually finish the Overpass before they remove the old grade crossings. The overpass will actually be two bridges; One over CSX, then a fill, and then a bridge over NS. A gradient drive will be made in the middle fill for the concret/stone industry in the middle of the main lines. I have no problem with a museum in the old station, it's just that those sorts of things prompt more saftey issues and could lead to a fence being constructed.

it was split between the 2...CSX got a lot of the ex-NYC lines (including the Boston Line) and NS got a lot of the ex-PRR lines

I went there today and there was work being done on one of the NS tracks, only 3 trains in 45 minutes :( But the overpass is all done.

@Tcostello105 First I saw a west-bound empty BNSF coal train the first 10 seconds when I got there, then a slow and long intermodal NS train and in the middle of the NS one, a short CSX flew by.

The overpass plans have no effect on the old station. The overpass will take the path of Front Street now, and Depot Street will stay on path to just about where the station is, and will do an S-Curve south and connect to Front Street. The station is a city landmark, and won't be torn down. I believe there is a group working to make it a museum, but in my opinion, I'd rather it see it stay as is. A museum can lead to the development of an annoying fence, such as in Marion, OH.

@JDStucks Right by Hopkins airport. there is (was) a restaurant there that used to be a train station- I went there all the time until I moved and then they built the overpass because of people complaining about getting to work late bcuz of trains. :-(
