What are the best locations Dartmoor for landscape photography? In my latest video, I'm going to show you 3 GREAT landscape photography locations on Dartmoor that I think will inspire you to photograph this amazing national park!

Audio recorded using a Gyvazla Lav Mic (amzn.to/2PWnFjJ) and a Zoom H1 (amzn.to/2gyGPfd)
Video edited in Adobe Premiere CC (amzn.to/2iX4la4)
Images shot on a Nikon D850 (amzn.to/2eZiNxd) with a Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 VR (amzn.to/2DUUP0b) Nikkor 16-35mm f/4 VR (amzn.to/2D0PzZx).
I also used a Lee Filters Circular Polariser (amzn.to/2DMeCQq) and Lee Filters ND Grads (amzn.to/2zmVk22)
Images processed in Adobe Lightroom CC (amzn.to/2eDw8uC).

Thumbs up ere' Julian, amazing place to visit - walked all over this place in my younger years! 3 great locations and there are many more to photograph - maybe a map showing the places as Dartmoor is huge. There is something about your presentation, have no need or feelings to skip to another spot in your vlog, very enjoyable and engaging for me as a viewer ,,,, great spots you picked for us, hard to choose my favorite location of photos, it is always about light, but you already know it... Hi Julian. I normally shoot wildlife but having seen some of your videos I think I will give landscape a go. Dartmoor is only 20 min drive so must get up there.

Really nice locations and great vlog. What weather app are you using? It had the dew point listed. Very handy.

Thanks Andrew. That's not an app, but just a webpage...it's yr.no It's a weather forecasting service that I've been using for many years now. Not only does it have the very handy dew point, but it also breaks cloud cover up into three layers, lower, medium and high. Handy information for sure! It's well worth checking out. Julian, a fantastic idea for a video. i would love for you to pop this in my FB group because this is just the kind of thing we are looking for, ideas for people to meet up and shoot... Your videos are always very informative, and please let me thank you again for the clip you sent me for the Xmas video i did... look forward to seeing more from you in 2019... Me and the wife really need to get back down to Dartmoor spent a week there a few years ago, time to return now..

Nicely done Julian. Love seeing Dartmoor as brings back nice memories of wild camping at Fur Tor and Wattern Tor a few times several years back though feel my wild camping days are behind me now !! Love the 3 second river image..classic autumnal colours...btw what is the weather app you showed ? (even though it was wrong !!)...Happy New Year and here's to a great 2019

Thanks Nigel! Great to hear the video brought back some memories. 😀 The app is actually a website called yr.no - I use it all the time because it splits cloud cover up into 3 layers. They do have an app, but the website is better. 👍

Hi Julian , I went to Wistmans Wood about 24 years ago, got eaten by midgies, fell down a hole and broke my foot! happy memories. I shot a load of B&W film which I haven't looked at for a very long time. Maybe time to revisit with some midge repellant. Anyway, nice video. Just wondering how you're finding the F-stop bag and what size you're carrying?

Ouch! Not happy memories then! But anyway, thanks for taking the time to watch this video and for watching the bonus video. 👍 For the last few years now I've been using the F-Stop Tilopa. It's been with me everywhere and despite some punishment it's still doing its job. I find it really comfortable and as I carry heavy loads this is very important. 😀

The panoramic from Rippon Tor was beautiful, both the colours and the lines/composition - a wide zigzag leading the eyes over the whole width and into the landscape. The panoramic footage from the riverside was also beautiful - I'd like to see a still-shot of the same. br. Arne

Thank you Julian.I enjoyed the vlog! But can I ask what ability is required to access these areas? I am of moderate health, but have trouble walking any great distance.

Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. 👍 Both Great Staple Tor and Rippon Tor require walking up hill to gain access to the location. Rippon Tor is a relatively short walk (you can see the top from the roadside), and Great Staple Tor is a bit longer. The ground on both walks can be uneven and sometimes boggy. However, nothing out of the ordinary for Dartmoor. Things are a little simplier at Fingle Bridge. The path along the river is accessible as the car park is close by. No ascent required, and the path is well maintained. To go higher and above the tree line you can walk up the well beaten path from the car park, or park at Castle Drogo and walk from there. If distance is a problem, then your best bet is the riverside at Fingle Bridge - no real hills, and the car park is only a few meters from the car park. Hope this helps! 😃

Always enjoy your videos Julian. I notice your wearing special gloves for photography. What make are they and how do you find them? Rgds Phil.

Thanks Phil. The gloves are from a company called Vallerret. They are handy for operating most of the buttons on the back of the camera, but I sitll find my hands get cold with them (but obviously not as cold as wearing nothing - they will take the nip out of the wind.). 😃

@@PHILI041 if you want gloves that keep your hands warm AND you can still use the touch screen on your camera I'd suggest going to a good cycle shop. Loads of cyclist wearing gloves that still allow them to use their Garmins. These are cheap and warm www.wiggle.co.uk/?s=+DeFeet+E-Touch+Dura+Gloves

Phil Mc Gowan yep mine too. Since moving to Australia 4 years ago, I haven’t really needed the gloves too much 😀
