Quick tip: if you want to know if your hamster is dehydrated gently pinch the skin in the back of the neck, there is a lot of loose skin there, and it does not hurt them. If the skin slowly comes back down or even stays like that for a little while it means they are dehydrated. If it just comes straight back to normal then your hamster is completely fine! You can do this test in yourself by pinching the skin on the back of your hand!

When I first got my hamster, in the Pet Shop I got him in they had bowls instead of bottles, so I bought a bowl for him for water but at the same time I had a bottle so that he could get used to it being there. I trained him to use his water bottle by putting a smear of peanut butter on the straw thing xD it took him 1 and a half weeks before I could take the dish out and now he uses his bottle :) ( My hamsters name is monkey and I got him on February 28 which is a day after my birthday) :D

My hamster has tubes in his cage and one goes outside the cage, around and back in, and hes decided to make his nest in the top of the tubes lol so hes always there trying to get bedding in the tubes while he has a huge cage... and hes still a baby so hes rlly stupid haha

I give my hamster water in a bowl , which is made of thick glass with heavy base so that it doesn't topple and is not big enough for him to fit into. It's actually an Ikea tea light holder.(We kept his bottle in the enclosure). But after introducing the bowl to him , he never went back to drinking from the bottle.

My hamster always climbed the bars of his cage and stepped on TOP of the water bottle, so that he was stuck between the ceiling and the water bottle and he had nowhere to move. So then he always just jumped down -.- He now has a water dish.

ChanChan Love His cage is far from too small, he has an Alexander Skyline cage connected to a 70x50cm bin cage He is just a weirdo :D

ShadowTBlack that's a shame, just stick to the dish then, also your ham probably just wants a larger place to explore, my syrian is in a 120 by 60 DIY cage and she still wants out. try connecting another bin, or if that doesn't work maybe he just likes climbing and you should get him some climbing toys.

Can I just say thank you so much for providing us with such great hamster knowledge! I found your channel when you had Peach and Wasabi, jus after my dwarf pair passed away in 2013. I didn't know until after they passed that they were prone to diabetes! Also, if it wasn't for you and Hopping Hammy, I'd probably still wouldn't know proper hamster care, like the diabetic prone species, pine and cedar not being safe and not to use fluffy bedding and such like! Thank you so much! :-D

What do you do when your hamster eats the industrial Velcro for the water bottle? With a bin cage with 600sq inches of floor space. And lots of toys, stimulation and floor space.

I have a pet hamster and I keep moving the bottle around i get scared that he isn’t getting the water he wants/needs.although I do hear the ball inside the water bottle move a lot but I’m not sure if it’s because he’s drinking or can’t get anything to drink. Hi! I've had my Robo Hamster for about a year and a half and he still seems very skittish. Do you have any tips to tame him? I'm not expecting him to be super playful but he will not let me pick him up to clean his cage or to take him out to run around.

How about bath taming or try to take your robo in a small box with a house. This helped me :)

Hi! I have a question. My robo hamster has a swoollen right back foot. I doesn't look like it hurts her,because she's still running normaly,but she kinda doesn't step on the foot.(kinda hard to explain) I would take her to the vets,but the one near me is in the process of closing and the new one is just opening.(exotic vet is 2 h away). I removed her wheel,but do you have any extra tips? Thanks!

Sounds like it could be fractured or maybe broken, try to give her things that doesn't require her to do much climbing
