Very nice video! Simple (but complete) coverage of the 3 most basic chords.

Thanks again. Jazz theory can certainly head for the stratosphere pretty quickly, but you keep it rooted in nice clear principles.

Adam, I just purchased your course Jazz for beginners and I've learned so much thus far and I've only just started on the Major 9th up/down the scale and right away you can hear so many jazz tunes. I've been playing for 16+ years off/on and Never took lesson some reason I choose yours and I'm not disappointed so far. The courses are loaded!. I plan on still reading and playing songs as I've have in the past and studying your course daily. I'll keep you posted. Only advice I would give, it difficult to see your hands at times, having the notes shown thats being played would be very helpful. Thanks.

Yup. I feel like I've pushed the limits on how much a maj7 can take a #11, lol. Just trying to keep it simple for the beginner folks.

Last chord can also function as a minor chord, from G13 to a Dmin6/9 just replace the bass note with a D. Music is awesome :') lots of voicings can be played and they'll sound even better in context.

Seems like with “Root-Shell-Pretty”, you are not going to end up with the third on top, especially if the rule is to not double thirds. How would you go about voicing chords for a tune that has a lot of thirds as the melody note (like All the Things You Are”)?

Please put the camera above your hands..so we can see what fingers do you use to play. Keep it up. Great teachings!!

This is great 👍But in the example at 9:58 you're actually playing C6/9 for the I chord, you have A instead of B in the right hand. (Which is a great chord/voicing for this, too.)

Hey Adam, if you had no access to an acoustic piano, what digital piano would you choose to play the gig with?
