Keith Scott isn't a household name even in Canada, and Bryan Adams is a radio-staple here (even more than elsewhere). He might be the most underrated guitarist in Canadian history! I've always liked his stuff and that he "plays for the song"... thanks for the lesson!

Just throwing it out... Keith’s solo on “Everything I Do” is IMO one of the most beautiful, tasteful, and complimentary guitar solos out there.

Thanks Dave! My all-time favorite guitarist who is a master of putting the song first with his playing is Mike Campbell. His hooks, phrasing, and lead work were as memorable as the songs and lyrics. I've always thought his relationship with Petty was similar to Steve Stevens working with Billy Idol, or Billy Duffy with Ian Asbury - all of these players were able to show creativity while supporting a lead singer/songwriter, as well as the songs themselves. A dissection of Mike's career and playing would be super-appreciated down the road.

I learned to play when Reckless came out wearing out the grooves on that one. Simple and effective stuff, fun guitar parts. The tones on that album are pretty much the cleanest and sweetest sustaining colors ever. Great work, Dave.

Nice to see a Canadian great get some guitar props. Would love to see you highlight some of Kurt Winter's playing. He was the lead guitarist for the Guess Who 1970-1974. 'All Hashed Out' would probably be the best overall introduction to his style and feel for those who haven't gotten into his playing. But he's on a ton of Guess Who tracks from that era. Another Canadian great that a lot of guitar players really don't appreciate, even though we've all heard him on the radio from time to time. Garnet T-shirts rule. Peace.

Great lesson indeed! And I think somehow important, too, because you remind us that shredding is only one side of the coin and that we should keep an eye on phrasing, digging in and so on. I love Keith and Bryan since the „Into the Fire“ album!

I'm so disappointed I thought late night lessons was going to put on a Robin Hood Costume and play everything I do, I do it for you. That guitar solo changed your life I bet having those sweet juicy notes hitting you deep inside that only Keith Scotts 335 red guitar can do, no one else has got that trademark tone on that guitar solo.

I have to disagree for Neil Schon, this guy is absolutely polluting his songs with shredded phrases. He is everything but a down to heart guitar player. Saw him live and it was all about his guitar solos. Keith Scott is the absolute opposite with a "less is more" super effective approach. Steve Lukather is something in between I would say, but man, that guy is a highly-skilled guitar player and he always fits this fast lick at the right time. Keep producing this videos - That was great! I love the discussions.

On bryans actual albums its minor & major pentatonic and ionian (major scale) and you’ll get some little arpeggio stuff too. There are even a few solos where he does this little interval things in 4ths kind of like what dave shows in the 3rd lick, you can hear keith do that in its only love and home again

Was he touring with Bryan Adams in the mid-80's? Can't find the answer. I think I saw him live w/ BA thinking to myself "shit. man. that guy can really play." Then Neal Schon came on with Journey and blew all the guitar players off the stage that day.
