Providence was arguably the better warship, this shows MC80 was nothing to sneeze at. Both designs originated from the same world.

Honestly? The only reason the MC80s won is because of their “Power to Shields” ability. The Providence has more weapons, better armor placement, more Fighters/Bombers/Assault ships and is overall a smaller profile.

as seen in this footage and in a game you need ion weapons as soon as the ship is hit with them the shield ability goes down.

only in a poorly balanced game. Talking about actual star wars lore and not game mechanics, MC 80 is vastly superior to Providence. Considering that MC-80's dominate Victory class SD's which outgun Venators by a healthy margin, and a venator is more than capable of outgunning a Providence. the only advantage Providence has is more fighters, but Mc-80's have far more modern and capable fighters.

I have a problem with the full power to shields ability on the Mc 80, it does not take much to take them out. A lone fighter bomber can can stop the ability. I would rather not have he MC shielding but increase fire to weapons because ion weapons do not stop that ability. My opinion they should just double the shields and call it day to simulate better shields because this ability is LAME and does not work when you need it.

The Shields on Mon Cala Cruisers in this mod are the best you can get. The Providence in this case has the edge as far as it's weaponry because it's Torpedoes go through the shields on those ships plus it has more fighters that can hurt an MC-80. Had the three Providences gotten into a position where they could back each other up and Broadside the MC-80 Liberties, The battle would have gone much differently.

@@MultiBigJC that is not the point Im making. One fighter with ion weapons can cancel the ability and send it back on cool down.

@my2cent342 yeah doesn't really matter when Mon Calamari cruisers don't put power to weapons like that bud. You can complain about it, but Mon Calamari ships are known for the shields not their weapons so Dutch is not just going to change how they've always worked in both Legends and Canon just because you want increase power to weapons.

@@MultiBigJC I do not think I am being clear enough. I know MC 80s are known for shielding and not fire power. My statement is not a complaint its fact and I believe its built into the game that they go out when hit with ion weapons not a % chance but 100% period.. My opinion just like you have yours would be to simulate more shields because the ability does not work as intended base game. their is no percent chance that ion weapons wont stop power to the shields as i said its 100%. Yet again ion cannon does not effect full power to the weapons ability to send it to cool down.

@my2cent342 I humored you and went to the discord to ask if that was the case. Starfighter Ions don't cause that to stop Power to Shields. Ion Cannons from crusiers, Capital Ships and Starbase are more likely. Even went in and tested myself and put some tie defenders against my Mc80. Their Ion cannons didn't instantly knock out power to shields like you claim. So I have no idea what you're on about.
