There are IOT toothbrushes, my health insurance company tried to give me one. I'm sure they have the most basic of potato level silicone.
@elvendragonhammer5433
@elvendragonhammer5433 5 ай бұрын
You mean Silicon; not silicone. Silicon is the Element on the periodic table that integrated circuits are made from. Silicone is the petroleum based hydrocarbon chain & rubberized sealant used to seal your windows in the frames & as caulking around your bathroom tiles/tub/shower etc. They are not remotely the same thing. However, you are correct that IoT toothbrushes do indeed exist.

The modes can come in handy, though mine doesnt have any.Electric toothbrushes are recommended by dentists even. My dentist recommended me a electric toothbrush and I bought a Oral-B Vitality 100. Pretty basic feature-wise (you get a timer and it reminds you to switch to the other side of your teeth every 30 seconds and that’s pretty much it) but it’s definitely an improvement over it’s regular brethren.

honestly if you can turn something without a processor into a bot net, you might deserve the bot net. it is like hearing someone say they turned a litteral potato into a botnet meshnet. and cleverly planted them in a field. no one expects to be hacked while driving down a farm road.

If there's bluetooth capability, there's an arm core in there. And like the video mentions, these chips are usually dual use because both BT and slow wifi use 2.4ghz and come with libraries for a full tcp/ip stack. The only question is if you can easily reprogram it, but since modern developers can't seem to ship working software, your smart thing might have an auto update "feature" - and there's your way in. Also, we must give the devs multiple chances per year to brick your device, not just one at the factory.

it could work but not as easy as its made to be... - first of all we need to check if most toothbrushes connect their wifi chips antanas (i dought they will waste budget on something unused), unless the wifi is very close, its practically unreliable. - we need to hack the app itself, (it will allow us to add the phone as a ddos slave aswell..), then somehow get access to firmware source code and modify it to enable wifi, and connect to the same wifi as the phone (assuming the phone is connected via wifi). - we also need to modify the firmware code to connect and become a slave in our bot army. after all of this, we can only hack one brand of toothbrushes, that have a really strong signal wifi at home, also assuming the client used a android phone, also updates the app regularly (most people don't update)

So what if the chip is capable of Wi-Fi ? It is probably disabled at firmware level and still lacking router credentials. On top of that, how do you infect a toothbrush ? From the app ? From the factory ? Also, while Java can, in theory, run on low power chips, nobody does that.

1. Bruteforce the router credentials, its not like its running on a CMOS battery, it's running on a battery, like a phone. 2. You infect it from the app, more specifically, finding a vulnerability in the server.

O.k. let's say we had the power to shut down the Internet, wipe the "drive", clear memory and all caches, replace all the cables, and replace all the processors with flawless unhackable hardware... Could we design an Internet from the ground up that is inherently, intrinsically hardened against the current range of non-social illegal hacking? What would be the differences? If anyone can point me to literature that takes this approach to "solving" the problem theoretically I would be delighted!
