Powerline is a big source of interference too! Less noticeable by most people but your home wiring essentially becomes a big antenna and ham radio operators in your neighbourhood might have strong feelings about that. Also the vendors guarantee that "powerline stops at the meter" is not always true. There are cases of people being able to access their neighbours network because nobody bothers to change the default encryption key. And honestly the speeds you can expect on powerline aren't that great either if your house wiring is old or there are other things plugged in to the same line of wires/sockets.

Wifi jammers have been used for a long time on these stupid wireless alarm systems. Cheaper way is to go and unscrew the internet cable from the side of the house lol

In the 90's, I moved into a house that had a telephone connection in a box outside. I had them put it inside the garage instead, when installing my ISDN line. Now it turns out that they wanted $100 more to remove the old box! I told them to leave it. So besides being a non-functioning decoy, I thought how cool is it to connect the old phone wire to a NC input in the security system.

I have a set of linksys power line adapters that you have to push a sync button on each device it supposedly sets up an encrypted link. I found a 3rd powerline adapter different brand with no sync button at a junk store and guess what it connects to the linksys units with no problem.

Someone this clever would not keep a single copy of this information, and some methods such as direct disc clones are very difficult to detect after the fact. Best to assume this data is still floating around.

I have a "Friend" that has their cams on POE attached to UPS, recording to a local server (also on a ups) with a "heartbeat" into the cloud that sends txt/email to their phone if the heartbeat fails (amongst other messages).

Or, if there is connection lost (which frankly can happen even with Ethernet connection), it actually sends a signal notifying you about it. Wi-Fi can drop out for various reasons, but if your Wi-Fi is usually very stable and doesn't really drop out very often (more like almost never), then it's pretty suspicious if that happens out of the blue.

We use them because radio waves can travel a bigger distance compared to WiFi. (powerline adapter frequencies are usually between 100Hz to 2.4MHz. WiFi is usually from 900MHz to 60GHz. The bigger the frequency of a wave, the shorter the wavelengths and therefore the distance of travel is lower.)

Always love a little bit of internet crime drama. By the way, these powerline adapters at least used to interfere with signals. Here in Europe a few cases came up where powerline adapters interfered with hobby / amatuer radio. Latest case I heard was in 2020.

The FBI should consider putting some kind of digital signature on their takedown notices that anyone can check to verify if a takedown is authentic or not.

Ethernet cameras that record locally with a good UPS that has at least a 30 minute run time is going to be your best option for redundancy. That way the footage still gets recorded even if the coax or fiber line is damaged or the Wi-Fi network is jammed and the UPS prevents the system from going offline immediately if electrical service is interrupted whether by turning off an exterior main disconnect or pulling the utility company meter. Some houses in the US have panels or main disconnects located on the exterior of the building and thieves have been known to turn those off and even in houses that don't thieves have been known to pull the electric meter and even do it in a way so that's only partially removed so it doesn't trigger an automated trouble call from the utility company

btw if you have powerline internet you can jam that if have access to any sockets

The thing with randsom ware is that it takes a moron within the organisation to click on a link in an email to help the exploit occur. The sooner organisations use 3rd party web services to trade the better. Another thing is that all external USB ports should be disabled to stop people infecting terminals and have a policy which cuts off the internet for anything other than work use. In my last job, the persons job I took on when they were fired was because they plugged in a wifi dongle, visited a website and infected the entire network of 13,000 computers. Unless employees have the threat of being fired for circumventing security, these randsom attacks will occur regularly.

The american i France did not use a Wifi-jammer. He used a 4G/5G jammer and took out a larger residential area every night between midnight and 3 AM. Could have caused major injuries to someone as you cant make emergency calls.

you can jam entire cell towers with just a couple of phones. dont get a cellular data plan on them and they'll repeatedly ping the towers, although most cell towers still have some resistance to this it may work.

Wifi jammers and deauthers have been a problem for many years now. You should NOT use wifi for security cameras - get good PoE cameras instead.

I *initially* used WiFi for my security cameras but they were unreliabe in general so I bought a PoE switch and connected the cameras that way directly into my router. so I'm not vulnerable to a jammer.
