3 MINDSET SHIFTS TO STOP BINGE EATING - Binge eating recovery is all in the mind. You may think you know what to 'do' to recover, but have you stopped to consider how you need to think in order to stop bingeing?
These are the three mental shifts that need to happen in order to find peace with food and freedom from binging.
My book, I Can't Stop Eating, is available on Amazon.

I have taken your advice, read all the books suggested. This week your talk is exactly were I am at. After 50! years of diet/binge. Managing now to remain the same weight is a massive achievement, I am feeling so much calmer but still struggle with the thoughts that you describe. THANK YOU for all the help and advice. 🌷

I have the same issue!! Oreos, for me, are a curse. Lol. But when I reeaaaaally want them, I allow myself to buy one of those lil cups of mini Oreos. Or one of those $1 packs of 4 in the checkout. I don’t allow myself to open and eat them til I’m away from the store and on the way home or home already. I dunno if it’s healthy. But it helps somedays.

I'm trying to make peace with doing something I was brought up never to do: throw food out. Example: buy a candy bar, eat and enjoy a bite of it, then throw the rest of it into the garbage can.

The third idea really slapped me in the face! That I can please and follow through with everyone around me but not myself is exactly me. To be able to turn the tables and make myself the one that I please is such a wonderful and loving thing. I will apply it to myself today. I get something valuable to my journey with every video you produce. Thank you. Keep-em coming. 😊

Hi. I just thought you should know this. I have struggled with binge eating for a couple of years and I felt so powerless, even after countless KZfaq videos. I found your channel about 10 days ago and It has pretty much stopped since then (except, like once). Thankyou so much, the whole black and white thinking thing was a total game changer especially. 🥰

OMG Good this your second video I watch right from the start was like this is me this is me. Everything you said made sense. I’m definitely that person wants to help and look after everyone never let anyone down. I’m watching was straight after my binge all those emotions were there. Listening to your words thought it’s ok can’t change the binge it’s done. 💯 Percent of those people that think I started a binge so might aswell carry on and won’t even do any exercise after a binge. Thank you so Much so greatful I found your Chanel.

I appreciate your videos. Thank you so much. A lot of my bingeing is hormonal Lu charged before my period. Any weight I manage to lose on my good weeks, I gain right back in the 1.5-2 weeks before (I struggle with PMDD symptoms that start from the time I ovulate. I’ve tracked sooo long, I have my body down to a science.😅😢). Watching your videos, along with some other therapy videos on self compassion and getting out of negative filtering have helped so much. I’m not anywhere near perfect but it’s amazing the difference you can have when you not only find community that *gets* it but begin on healing things from the inside out mentally. Thanks again ❤

I am so glad I have stumbled upon your channel, I used to be a binge eater for so long and I wanted to give up so many times, but for the past few days I promised myself that I will try to enter the place of recovery (by my own) but still while in recovery im having some weird thinking and thanks to your channel I feel a little more calm and a little more in a friendly space. Thanks to you I can take a bigger step each day, even when it doesnt look like so much to me or if its quite little. Thank you, have a great day and to anyone who struggles whith the BED monster, you will get through this, we will all together

Gem A Sure! JP talks about treating yourself as someone who needs to be looked after in his book 12 Rules For Life 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0141988517/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZDlzFbZM6GK1B And BK says that stuff everywhere. There are lots of KZfaq videos of her doing what she does and I’ve seen her live twice and read a few of her books so not sure where to direct you first. I guess I would start with Loving What Is Loving What Is: Four Questions That Can Change Your Life www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0712629300/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_DGlzFbAFV02AX

hi! I'm not sure if you have answered this before in any video, but is it okay if you binge on safe foods (/low cal foods) while trying to recover, or is this harmful as well?
@TheBingeEatingTherapist
@TheBingeEatingTherapist 3 жыл бұрын
Britney Giron You get to decide whether it’s harmful for you. I’m not sure there would be a blanket rule. How do you feel about it? I would say it’s about whether it’s having a detrimental effect on your wellbeing 💕

I would have thought that a binge is a binge doesn’t matter what you binge on. It’s the energy/ compulsiveness that determines whether it is a binge or not. I once remember a therapist telling me to binge on grapes instead. Useless advice

The reality is that we want to be slim so we can love our bodies and look good, the easiest and healthiest way to achieve this and reduce/stop cravings and BED is with a WFPB diet, which is nourishing and allows large portions

Natalie Thelamy 😞 Binge eating unfortunately can be very effective at dealing with stress in the moment as it activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which takes us out of fight or flight. Sadly, can cause more stress in the long term tho x

Is it a good idea to have certain systems in place to avoid a binge? Each time I am in my kitchen home alone, I binge. I want to just have the freedom and disciple to not binge when I am around food, but I find that I can only go days without bingeing if I stay away from places with lots of food. @thebingeeatingtherapist
