Yes me too. I feel like applying cream/stick on dirty unwashed face will just rub the dirt into the pore and it feel yuck. Then there's mist one, the proper way to use it to make it work is to apply generously and rub on skin, that still spread dirt to pore. Powder one probably less gross but still making thick layer 😐

As someone with severe eczema, over moisturizing doesn't exist...
@ianavodenicharova4167
@ianavodenicharova4167 Жыл бұрын
It's best not to apply moisturizer on top of skin that is infected, inflamed or sensitive because the chemical ingredients in the moisturizer may irritate it further and worsen it. So please wait for the skin to heal first. The exception is if you have a medicated cream for eczema. Also I highly recommend you use a gentle cleanser.
@vanillamilkshake1444
@vanillamilkshake1444 Жыл бұрын
@@ianavodenicharova4167 That's the worst advice for someone with eczema. With the right routine you can skip medicated creams almost entirely, atleast in my case. Everything is chemical, what you mean is irritating ingredients like perfume, you need very bare bones cream and that requires a little knowledge about ingredients. Eczema it often genetic, so it's not just a matter of letting it heal, you're predisposed to getting it.

@@ianavodenicharova4167 From what my doctor told me, you do still have to moisturize when your skin is inflamed. When I get really bad flare ups I moisturize, use a Vaseline or ointment, then wet wrap with cool water, the dry wrap. Wet wrapping along with red light therapy has helped a lot. The whole point is to add moisture/ water back to your skin and keep it there with a think ointment or Vaseline. Topical medicine is fine sometimes too but then you end up being too dependent on it then sometimes it just stops working with your body. Now I'm about to try an injection which I'm excited for.

It depends on what you use to moisturise like if you use an oil and your skin already leans towards being dry then it’ll definitely make it worse. You’ll notice the difference when you don’t use it. It’s kind of like if you shampoo your hair every day then it gets greasy so much more quickly or on the flip side, if you use too much conditioner/do it too frequently when you have dandruff then it won’t help because your skin/scalp becomes reliant on it. Essentially it’s a tolerance thing and idk how difficult it is to do with normal moisturisers but heavier oils will definitely hinder the natural production of oils your skin produces. A similar analogy is like how people with oily skin almost always have dehydrated skin which is why their skin produces the amount of oil it does, in order to overcompensate for the loss of water/hydration. Science is so fkn fascinating man lol

@AnnieNugget Жыл бұрын
Yea except the girl in the video wasn't stating facts. Over moisurizing is a very difficult task to achieve. You mentioned you were using something too thick. Perhaps you were using a cream and not a lotion. But first things first use cerave not cetaphil. Cerave lotions/creams have ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Your body naturally produces ceramides but as you get older the process isn't as great. Next, try using a facial lotion rather than a thick thick cream. I prefer creams because my skin is very dry. Next, figure out if you have dry vs oily skin. The ingredients in the lotion matter. Moisturize after each shower at the end of your routine. No need to constantly reapply lotion throughout the day unless you're super dry. What my boyfriend does is he adds a couple drops of Hyaluronic Acid to a very gentle basic lotion formula. because he doesn't prefer cerave for whatever reason. So this can be another option. But I think cerave is a good easy go-to for daily use. Great ingredients for a cheap price. Lasts awhile. I'm actually super into skincare (hobby but I've researched a lot over the years). So if you have specific questions I'm more than happy to see if I can be of any help.

The most important thing I learned from all the professionals I worked with was to always wash away micelar water, if you use it. It’s the same principle as washing dishes, you would leave the dirty dish water on them

I actually prefer to put on a lot of moisturizer, let it sit on my skin, and then rub it in continuously. I have pretty dry skin and with the moisturizer I use it makes my skin very soft and dewy and gets rid of my dry patches. If that’s over moisturizing and bad, oh well I’m gonna keep doing it because it works for me 🤷‍♀️

Sign that you are using enough moisturizer is it absorbs fast and don't stays on top for more than 1 minutes
@fibscy5043
@fibscy5043 Жыл бұрын
The miscellar water tip is the same for any makeup remover lol you always need to soak the makeupbefore wiping off. and over-moisturizing is not a thing. Your skin will absorb what it can but it will not make your face drier when you “over-moisturize” the excess moisture will simply evaporate. The only negative thing about this is that it’s wasteful. As for the spf, you can reapply as much as you want, because same thing with moisturizer it does evaporate if you’re using a liquidy spf, but applying after every wash is enough.

It's also important to apply sunscreen properly. It should be done in a cool, dry place and sit on the skin for 15 minutes before going out. Otherwise, you could just sweat it off. I live in Florida and I had a health science professor at University who'd essentially campaign putting it on properly.
@therachellllcat4444
@therachellllcat4444 Жыл бұрын
@BigBootyTrudie I mean, it's just how the science works and how ideally you'll get the best protection from your sunscreen. You don't have to 😂 you can put on your sunscreen outside and sweat it off quicker, if you want. You'll have to reapply more often, and likely will still get UV damage to your skin, since it won't sink into your skin. But that's reality for most people 😂

First time I heard about over moisturizing, since our body has good regulation of fluids in and out. If you are drying out even though you are moisturizing regularly then maybe you are using the wrong type of moisturizer. Example of such case is by using a humectant while you are living in a pretty dry place/area. Humectant works by bond with the water molecules from various environmental sources and hold them in the skin's surface, leaving it plump and hydrated. Now, if you use that type of moisturizer while staying in an area with low humidity, the humectant you just applied will have to find another source of moisture since there's nothing much in the environment and humans are 70% water so yeah...

During the winter months, I use virgin coconut oil to remove the makup off of my eyes, face and neck, it's much quicker. Then put a warm soft rag on my face to dampen before washing my eyes, face and neck with my cleanser afterwards, and rince with cold water. Then I put another thin coat of virgin coconut oil on my face and massage around my eyes, face and neck upward before going to bed at night. In the summer time, I do the same routine but less oil on my face in the summer. I like simple and I allow my skin to produce it's own natural moister, but I do keep vaseline around my eyes to keep my eye lid lines soft. After washing my face and putting on sunscreen, I use less makeup. I use makeup on special occasions, sunscreen is included in the foundation. I believe in allowing my skin to breathe majority of the time, so people can see the real me.
