Mr.Nightmare can make anything sound scary. It took me about 15 seconds to realize that he was starting with an advertisement and not the actual story.

That 1st couple is what locals would call "dumb tourists"

That Italy story seemed like it was based on the Latin American folklore of La Llorona, a female ghost who is seen wearing a white dress and is loudly crying and mourning the death of her drowned children

Funny how Mr. Nightmare’s voice can be used well for both scary stories and advertisements.

Regarding the first story, don't swim/skinny dip in an unknown area. You have no idea if that water contains brain eating amoebas or not. second, that water could have been held as sacred and that guy might have been a local, who got pissed off that the land was defiled. This is why thinking is important.

I really liked the first story. I was once in that area and was staying at an artist workshop. We would make bamboo sculptures. One afternoon I went looking for a small dog the workshop had kind of adopted and I ran across two people in a pool. It was in the woods and on public land. They yelled at me and when I said I was looking for my dog they yelled that I should get the hell out. Later that same evening I was in the bamboo cutting down stalks for a project and was accosted by the same couple. I asked them if they were lost and they screamed and ran off. Maybe they are ghosts. I don't know. Anyway...take care of yourselves.

The second story was easily one of the scariest I've heard

I was born and raised in Hawaii, and I had to pause the first story halfway through and just mentally prepare myself for the second half. If you’re from Oahu like I am it may have reminded you of the old legend about pork and the nuuanu pali. It reminded me of that since I remember my kumu telling us the original story where the pork was actually dog (it believe was changed to pork later because of missionary attachment to dogs). Don’t take my word for it though since this is all a vague memory. This may not be my story to retell because even though I was born and raised here, I am not a native.

Damn kudos to that Italian man for trying to warn them. As weird as this sounds, I am disappointed we couldn't get a full transcript of what he was trying to say to them in their face/screaming after them.

What I’ve learnt from Mr. Nightmare Don’t go out alone If you do go out alone, make sure to tell someone where you are/share your location Keep a mental note of where you leave stuff and whether you leave doors open or closed Never go off the trail Don’t tell people that you’re home alone Double check what information you may be giving away in a post on social media Keep all doors and windows locked at night or when home alone Lock your phone/Have a password on your phone If you suspect someone is in your house hide and don’t be afraid to call the police Do background checks if you’re staying at an air b&b Don’t go in alleyways Learn basic phrases in the native language of a place you’re going to on holiday Don’t get in ubers or taxis, call a parent, friend or partner instead Don’t immediately discredit your children, they might have heard/seen something you didn’t Don’t always chalk bumps in the night up to your imagination or the house settling Don’t lose your phone Double check sketchy information Don’t trust strangers, even if they seem nice and genuine.

Moral of the stories Stories1: always be prepared or go on tour with a company that knows the area well. Additionally, don't go skinny dipping in a public place. Story2: Learn the native language before going to the country so you can understand the native people. Story3: Research the houses/hotels you stay at.

Why is nobody talking about the second story seemingly having an Italian version of La Llorona? 😳

I used to watch this channel religiously in 2015-2017 and I want to say that it saved my life a few days ago!! I was walking to the train station from a doctor’s appointment and realized that I was being followed. As soon as I picked up on this, I stayed calm (didn’t outwardly show any signs of being suspicious), took a route through the local flea market and found a security guard there. I told him what was going on and he confronted the guy who was following me, and turns out he had a kitchen knife and was on drugs. The cops were called and the security guy walked with me to the station. If I didn’t listen to so many “scary walking home at night” stories, I probably wouldn’t have known what to do. Thank you, Mr. Nightmare!

It’s all fun and games, until you remember that these stories are true.

Second story: Seriously? I don't know a single word of Italian, and the second I heard "phantasma" I thought "ghost."

I just love how he always does the heartbeat thing at the start of the scary stories

Morals: Story 1: Don’t skinny dip in a random pond in a jungle without any sort of safety indication in place. Story 2: Don’t drink yourself to the point of not being able to navigate in a foreign place. Story 3: Always make sure your private home is secure before leaving temporarily.
