After watching all these videos about quitting my call center job, I finally quit mine. Feel liberated.

Dude, everything u say is sooo true!!!!! These jobs especially call centers are energy vampires, I quite my job and rediscovered myself all over again and feel like super woman!!!!

Everything you said was spot on, I work at a call center now and absolutely hate it, I have no passion for this at all I'm working towards a career change now and plan on putting in my two week notice this week

I've been working in a call centre job for the past 3 years in the same company. That's because I am afraid to make the change. The past jobs I had were mainly casual work, but with this one, I am working full-time which is why I need this job. I don't have any skills; I'm already in my late 30s, with a health problem and student loan debt and credit cards debt that I still need to pay off. It's hard to imagine that 3 years had passed, and I still haven't saved up any money. All my co-workers who came at the same time with meh had already left the place - or should I say, "disappeared out of the blue". They dont tell you when they are leaving. Right now, there are new people in the call centre and things are not as exciting as they once seem to be. The job gives me anxiety. I get a lot of people screaming at me, and a lot of the time, I felt sad that I couldn't assist their enquiries.

Let me tell you. When they're terrible systems freezes or is slow and you have to restart or reboot your computer, automatically you will be offline and then they tell you that's counted as downtime, and that means they will take from your salary, just because they're systems are poor. Do we need to talk about the fact Managers and their constant harassment over their team members, why were you sick? What's wrong with you? By law we don't have to disclose why we were sick, but they don't care. And when you let one call go, it's seen as call avoidance but they don't understand that you sometimes just need to breath or take a sip of water. Can we please talk about the constant tiredness? I feel so exhausted sometimes that I don't even eat when I get home. Or don't have the strength to clean my place properly. The constant shift changes. Weekends all I do is not get dressed and lay in bed cause I'm tired.

I am still working after being demoted from my previous secondment. I got into IT field but they did not like me so they sent me back to the calls. Now here I am back on the phones. I have been on the phones for the past 10 years. i just want to get out this field.

You seriously said it how it is! I’m leaving my call centre job in 3 days time, after 6 months of my mental health taking a beating from customers and toxic colleagues I decided enough is enough. I’m going travelling for a few months and don’t intend to bother work in such environments anymore! I felt wasted working in a call centre didn’t give me a sense of self, no job satisfaction or rewards! I felt like a zombie day in day out I dreaded going into work! Thanks for sharing your experiences am glad it’s not just me.

I've been in a call center now since 1 year and it destroyed my life. Most of it is mental issues. I was a pretty upbeat person who was smiling and hates violence. Now i have severe deep depression, constant anger issues (i scream at my friends and loved ones unintentionally). I wanted to kill myself many times at least i had way too many thoughts about it. Now i even want to punch so many people in the face for no fucking reason other than to get this frustration and anger out of me! I hate my life, i hate my choice i made, i hate everything!

My call center job is making my already existing mental and physical issues magnified times 10. I feel you on everything you said here. I'm just burnt out and stuck..these systems need to get better, and people need to be nicer to eachother 😔

I'm writing this comment a few minutes after sending my resignation letter to the HR. I have always wanted to quit this living hell the moment I started working there but I had to continue because I needed to have work experiences and I really was hoping to get promoted so I lasted for 1 whole year of bad mood & sleep disorders due to their inhumane work nature where they treat you as a robot. Cannot describe how I'm feeling now, feels exactly as someone who got free from prison. Liberation 🕊️

In 2020, I remember not being enrolled for my Sophomore year because of financial issues, so I tried Call Center job during the first year of Pandemic. Before, I dreamed of working in Call Center because the pay was above minimum wage for someone who has no Bachelor's degree or someone who is yet to earn one. In our country Call Center jobs have salaries higher than a newbie Nurse or Teacher or if you have not pass the licensure exam it's your option. I only had 2 months contract because the account is seasonal, working in Call Center made me feel like I'm not enough, I hated anonymous phone calls, because of that I get mad when someone calls without texting me that they would call I can see it as a disrespect.

Long story short, had a great sales job and was layed off. Took a customer service call center job to pay the bills. 1.5 weeks from my new non call center job. It cannot come fast enough. This work is dehumanizing between the way you are treated by the public and the micromanaging. Only take a call center job if you have to. They will make it look shiny...it never will be!
