No after i finished there was not much else to do I moved onto other games like age of calamity. botw is an example of a good game which is enjoyable to replay I think that's why people love it so much i hope gamefreak learns from this and moves in the right direction in the future.

To be fair, shiny hunting is a bit of a different ballgame than normal gameplay. You can do shiny hunting in addition to most other tasks that leave you with one hand free- which isn't quite the same as normal gameplay where you need a bit more thought dedicated to the game itself. Source: am a shiny hunter myself. I do get what you're saying though, and agree for the most part. Shiny hunting is just probably not the best example to give.

Exactly. I've put roughly 600 hours into SwSh exclusively because of Shiny Hunting. I just wrapped up a Shiny Regidrago hunt two days ago. If I want something I definitely will put in the time and energy into it, even if it becomes monotonous along the way.

@@DistantKingdom I think one thing you can include in a that video is the fact there isn't a lot of shiny hunting methods at all. I remember aDrive expressed this issue, and I agree. Even shiny hunting in SwSh can be tiresome over time. In previous gens you had so many options. I can't name the previous methods before XY but there was a lot added and removed since XY. XY: - fishing chains - Masuda eggs - soft resets - poke radar - horde battles/random encounters - friend safari ORAS: - hordes battles/random encounters - dexnav - dexnav updated where you can catch new pokemkn outside Hoenn - fishing - soft resets - Masuda eggs - hordes Sun and Moon is when shiny hunting methods started to get cut. SM: - sos - masuda - random encounters/ island scanner - soft resets - wormhole (usum) LGLP: - random spawn (this was arguably shiny hunting at its worst, people get a catch combo and simply wait) - soft resets SwSh: - random encounters - broken chaining with a 3% chance to get higher odds - soft resets - Mesuda method - Dynamax adventure (of course something not base game) As a shiny hunter I already know what it means to be patient. But the fact there isn't many options is upsetting. I do like Dynamax adventures but that's with DLC not base game. I like how things were in gen 6. Fishing combos also facts since conceptual wise. It's like I'm actually fishing for something rare. As a shiny hunter I can't say I'm looking forward to DP remakes so far. And it's bad enough I did play the original. I'm sure there will be other flaws but I *may* not notice them comparing it to the original at first. I'm not sure if these are intentional changes because they believe people don't have time anymore.

This is coming from someone who has 450+ hours on swsh because i shiny hunt, I feel like shiny hunting is what keeps a lot of people into swsh but if I am looking at it from the view of someone who doesn’t I can see that there is maybe 10 hours of postgame content if you stretch it

I'd like to add a long list of Indie games here too. Hollow Knight, Ori, Celeste, Hades, Rain World, Spiritfarer, Spelunky, Subnautica... I could go on. What all these games have in common is that they're a result of people with passion coming together to make something with the little resources they have available. Contrast that with the game series owned by the richest multimedia franchise in the world and what do you get? An overpriced game that reeks of passionless, soulless, rushed developent that disrespects its fanbase.. Driven by greed. Pokemon doesn't need to be difficult but it should at least make the player do more than spam A all game. Gen 4 & 5 were games that were challenging but still fair and fun for anyone. It baffles me that GameFreak suddenly thinks that hyper easy games are fun and satisfying..

It is not even easier lol, it just that we got gud and they cut some grind. Having a 20 level gap between wild pokemons and Clair is not difficulty, is wasting my fucking time. Clair goes down as easily as gen 8 gym leaders if you are not underlevelled. Also, gen 7 are notably difficult nuzlelockes.

@@noukan42 it is easier. Rival chooses the mon its weak toward yours, opens up with a 2v1 tutorial fight and Hops still lost. Less grinding means easier time steamrolling through everything that it just becomes a vicious cycle of steamrolling through everything, said grind only ended up being a joke in the first place thanks to raids. The fight against the strongest pokemon to date ended up being a joke thanks to the Anti-Dynamax nuke doggos. Its not that we got gud. This game is literally easier. You would not have as much ease in steamrolling the past games. Only reason this game doesn't end up being 20 minutes short was because of the unskippable cutscenes.

DLC that probably wasn't worth the price for admission when you consider they offered both versions at 60. 20 dollar higher than ANY game they've ever presented. They also had a bundle set. So lets do the math. 90 dollars for the bundle 60 dollars for both DLC (if you really wanted everything) 20 dollars for Nintendo Online 16 bucks for a yearly sub for Pokemon Home. Within a year's time You've spent $186 for all of this when an earlier gen's anniversary games would have cost 80 dollars and for 120 dollars you would have gotten the 2 gens plus the remixed 3rd game. You didn't need home or to pay for online, you got more features and less hassle for OVER the price of another console game.

I hate how true this statement is. :( A casual fan friend of mine who just buys Pokémon games, beats them, and leaves them alone after blasting through them bought a new Pokémon Sword because it was on sale when he got a Switch. He can enjoy Pokémon the way he wants, but me just trying to explain all the issues and nasty things GameFreak did with their lies and trash efforts didn't sway him or bother him one bit. Meanwhile, I've been trying to develop a great pool of competitive ready mons for teams for at least 2 years now (of course just as I got UM and the Pokémon company moved on...) and have one of the worst (if not THE worst) gens to join in competitive now. I love Pokémon so much and it just crushes me.

I remember the first time I beat The Lion King on the snes! That was a hard game! When I finally beat it the feeling of accomplishment was very REAL! I remember I got outside the house and was feeling so excited! I wanted to share that moment with somebody, but I was alone!

The fun part is that the battle mason was actually quite hard, from the second stages on, your opponents pokemon casually seemed to be perfect to counter your team, why wasn't that the standard for every other NPC in the hardest areas?

Yeah, it's so funny how Showdown became the mainstream spot for battles instead of just a battle simulator. It already had a lot of fame, but was never a substitute to the games until gen 8. I remember playing gen 6 back in the day and the online community was very active (in both battles and trades); gen 7 caused the community to slow down due to the Carnival Plaza system, but it was still strong. Now, in gen 8, I barely see people even talk about the online community outside of Showdown. The only thing keeping gen 8 alive is VGC and some draft leagues that chose to have the battles in the games. I really miss gens 4, 5 and 6... Thanks for ruining it, GF!

@@ezotheripe7340 Nioh's difficulty was kinda cheap. Some things don't have enough windup animation, or any at all. That flame wheel with no windup animation haunts me to this day. Of course I'm saying this based on the first game, I can't play the second game until it's out on PC. Hopefully things got better.

I liked sword and shield, in fact it's probably one of my most played games. It's not 1st in my most played game though. That goes to 3D world.

But other than that, it wasn't a "bad" game, at least, not in my opinion. Its genuinely fun, it's just if you're in it for like,the wild area trees and all that crap, you're not going to be able to have much fun with the game. That's my take on it at least. I'm probably going to get yelled at now.

I actually theorize the hate Gen 5 was one of the reasons GameFreak has their current mind set. I don’t think people really care about these events cause there’s no reason to play these modes,at least I never cared too much about the battle frontier,I liked the battle factory in emerald cause it was a fun mode but that’s it.I think they really should incentives more these events like they did in BW2 that reward you for completing the battle tree by giving you a free shiny and rewards you for completing the Pokédex by giving you a tickets to go on a place where you can catch a shiny haxorus.These are good incentive and rewards for playing hard modes but giving you points to get useless items,that’s not incentive at all except for the hardcore players that cares about competitive.

@@Gimas96 And...? Some people still enjoy them. And *nothing* stops GameFreak from polishing those extra features to a point where majority of people can enjoy them. That's literally the purpose of a long running series, to test things and see what sticks and then improving upon it. But GameFreak is literally doing the opposite by removing everything that people really liked and replacing them with worse versions of them or locking them behind paywalls. Imagine if they actually made the battle frontier in ORAS and gave it genuine depth. They could've made the Frontier Brains function akin to gym leaders rather than being a grindfest like in Emerald. Maybe you'd have to prove you have the skill to face them first by playing each mode a few times or something, I for one would love an endgame like that. And of course they could tie them with great rewards and different charms with various good effects. You know, *actual* endgame content. The potential is right there and GameFreak uses absolutely none of it.

It's because shinies take no effort at all. They're literal color palette swaps that iirc are more or less predetermined by their original colors, which is why we have a whole bunch of shinies that are completely unattractive.

I felt pretty sad that my first pokemon games were BW, the most hated for a while. I got BW2 later... I really loved them and they're my favorite games of all time, but people still didn't really "appreciate" the games. Now I'm happy since they are regarding as the best.

Gamefreak put their all into Gen 5 and when it was recieved as poorly as it was, they decided to just give up and copy-paste the Kanto starters every 3 years like the Pokemon Go crowd want. @@DragoSmash I mean, he's not wrong, people basically just make ROM hacks with higher difficulty or community made game modes like Nuzlocke. But it just seems lackluster that they're behind times over simple concepts. Although, you could say the same for Souls like games as the opposite for Pokemon's easy difficulty.

Tbh same, except I didn't do as many things as you did in SwSh. I just finished the postgame which without DLC is an hour?? Then I kinda played online once, but limited battles were annoying so I just dropped it. Also I am a huge Pokemon fan, but I never finished Ultra Sun, it was too boring. Especially considering how I had played Sun just a year before, so it felt ripetitive

More like...Gamefreak needs to stop making mainline games (they can continue Let's Go if they prefer). Give Monolith Soft a chance. They would make a much better Pokemon game.

For me, I thought ORAS was just meh. It wasn't terrible, but it has some major things that bugged me, like the broken Mega evolution for Rayquaza, or the Battle Frontier being removed. It was still way better than SwSh, however, the worst Pokémon game in the series for me is Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee. Let's Go was absolutely NOT worth $60, it feels more like a $20 game with the very small amount of content that's in it.

@@jonahboris6681(i do have some bias because ORAS were my first games) ORAS I thought was pretty good, it was really fun just having a power trip on what was supposed to be a "difficult" trainer fight, but I went to the battle resort not knowing what to expect, and even then, it still disappointed me. Let's Go was a joke of a pokemon game and I like to think of it as a spin-off game.

Even tho Swsh wasn’t great, let’s go are the worst in the series IMO. They are so dull and uninteresting

It's funny you say that cuz when I played thru Ultra Sun (I played through moon b4). I literally stopped playing right before the dragon trial cuz I was at the end of my patience playing through that game. That was the first time I straight up quit playing a pokemon game.

@@TSPH1992 megas and primal were actually a very good idea, I don't know why they just decided to completely drop megas in favour of a new mechanic in which pokemon do a special animation, but then decided to get so lazy they just made the new thing be "pokemon get bigger"

Ignoring consumer feedback is the *worst* thing you can do as a game dev, bar none! Especially since unlike most traditional mediums, video-games can be revised with new content updates and error corrections much more easily.

Before? They may have been slightly open to criticism, with the obvious genuine love for their craft. Now? Marketing is priority, look at their merch store and they just constantly have new crap coming out. It’s quite sad.

You're far from wrong. This is what Pokemon USED to be. You finish the storyline, and go on to the Battle Frontier to use rental Pokemon and get those titles and get a mini-arc postgame.

It’s not necessarily bad, but it could of been way better. It’s probably bad compared to the other games, but it’s not like the game on its own is bad, it just could be way better.

Imo it was bad because it had a lot of potential and just threw in the bin Edit: oh and the battle timer killed it for me aswell

It wasn't bad but the cutscenes make it not replayable. Just hate how you can have like 3 battles and have like a 10 minute cutscene like I just want to play the game lol

It's easy to lobe sw&sh because the formula is very similar to the old games and game freak are just great at designing pokemon looks. They've got really lazy and complacent, not innovating enough and just focusing on selling games instead of improving their franchise
