I just think the obvious answer is the strict deadlines the team is always under. This does not allow time to test out new mechanics, or really try anything new because using the same old formula is just quicker. And its a very good foundation. Its the reason i feel gimmicks stay only for a generation. Its a way to make each game fresh while not having to figure out how a permanent change to the core gameplay would look like. Lack of time also leads to rushed enviornments/story/etc. With the 2d games it wasnt so much a problem bc those are a lot easier to produce and animate. This is not a defense of Gamefreak. Just, i feel we'd see a lot more and better results if GF just gave the devs more time to make their games. We dont need a new game every single year which has been the case for nearly 20 years now through either mainline/spin off/remake titles. GIVE THE TEAM MORE TIME PLEASE

I have so much constantly building anger inside me for how ugly and lazy the new games are. Gen 9 games are bad too, tho not nearly as much as the previous 3 gens. Pokemon Colosseum, a gamecube spinoff from 2003, had better models than gens 6-8. Not only were the graphics better, but the models were so expressive and alive compared to the "mobile game-worthy" graphics of newer games. If Pokemon wasn't so big, the franchise would have died by gen 6.

The way Samus looked unfazed by Kraid screaming at her, and her just shooting him in the mouth is just so hilarious.

rant warning but that's WHY gamefreak "won't listen" to fans (first of all i'm not defending gamefreak, i'm just a fan): 1: people want TOO MUCH content from TOO FEW people gamefreak doesn't even have 300 employees, yet people want a game with all regions and this absurd stuff that comes from people that know NOTHING about game development, "but pokemmo did it" pokemmo is an emulator, not a game, and all regions would make the game NOT LOAD at all, even reusing the map/animation/npc/cutscene models from each game would make the game too big, nearing 50 GB (and yes i did the calculations, regions from kanto to paldea) 2: pokemon almost doesn't need to sell their games merch makes a lot of money 3: they can't make a game each year if you know anything about game development you know they can't make a whole game in one year 4: gamefreak can't make a "dark" game with death and stuff imagine characters actually having to fight pokemon with bare hands, surviving their way through a corrupt wasteland with villains that actually want to kill you! sounds cool, right? no, it doesn't, pokemon only faint for a reason, and that is: kids play the game. 5: pokemon can't have the best quality realistic models it's simply not the pokemon style, pokemon is supposed to be cartoony rather than realistic, because realistic pokemon would look CURSED, really really REALLY cursed

Not having a Metroid game for so many years made me so fucking hyped when 8:51 happens. I had already known this game was amazing while playing through it, but this moment solidified this as probably the best game in the series since 3.

I got into Pokémon later than most of my friends, I was 12 ,so a few years after DP released. My first mainline game was Pokémon Y but I would watch the diamond and pearl anime and watch my friends play when I could. So in terms of nostalgia I have very little for the game itself. I was excited when these were coming to Switch so I could experience these beloved games, these games are not remakes in the way ORAS, FRLG, or HGSS are. BDSP aren't bad games they're fine, but I definitely expected more from a remake. Also this just shows that TPC can give they're devs the proper time they need and it's getting worse. Scarlet and Violet launched and are still in an abysmal state performance wise and are visually some of the most ugly Pokémon games. But that's a rant for another time.
