bruh if its diablo 1 no stamina bar means you and everyone else (including the enemies) can't run. only strut casually. (diablo 2 fixed that though, stamina bar is used for running. and then in diablo 3 no stamina bar again which actually means everyone including you always run). stamina bar is a scary thing.

Coming from Ayuwoki: Steam Edition, it's a welcome change. He did give fair criticism there, too, but it was a broken, buggy mess.

I used to watch this series every time, all the way through each video. But... The issue is that so many of these games are just terrible. And not in a "it's just an alpha - it will get better" kind of way. In a "fundamentally bad idea" kind of way. Specifically, the key hunts, the endless locked doors, the exposition dump notes/cassettes/messages left everywhere that no real person would ever write - most of these games are just *nothing but that* and those are all horrendous game design flaws. These games are 100% flaws. Years and years of watching Mark play these, and the games themselves are finally grinding on my nerves with how garbage they are.

@@delphicdescant I'm fine with them, myself, since several of them do the horror atmosphere rather well (and for the second game, it was more or less a parody). Some, though, I do get what you mean. But watching Mark makes it more bearable than if one were simply playing them, one has to admit. Also, playing Devil's advocate, but most of your issues are in some of the most popular horror games on the market- Amnesia certainly comes to mind.

@@Danganraptor Yeah, I guess I'd say these aspects (key hunts, locked doors, exposition notes) were weak points for Amnesia too. Amnesia had other aspects going for it that *weren't* just these flaws, in other words. But on the topic of Amnesia: I played their predecessor (Penumbra Overture) when it came out, and I loved it. It was absolutely terrifying, and I don't really remember these tropes being a big part of it. Then, later, I played the Amnesia games as they came out, and tbh I didn't like them as much as Penumbra. Maybe some of these elements were the reason idk. What you said goes even further back, though. The idea of audio logs (or notes) left around as exposition goes all the way back to Deus Ex at least. But again, there was so much more going on in Deus Ex that it didn't *rely* on the exposition notes/logs. If it had, I think it would have been a worse game. So I guess I still do think these elements are weaknesses no matter what game uses them, but even if they weren't necessarily weaknesses, they are *so overused and tired* that no game will ever be able to pull them off "well" again imo.

How would you quantify that? Mark has it as "3 Scary Games" as a title, not a description, and in fact we have seen a few not at all scary games in this series. Dare i say they were even comedic. Thus, from my perspective, my statement is correct. By comparison to me, you are a small baby bottle drinker if you find these games scary. They *are* horror games, but they are absolutely not scary. It should go without saying that i am obviously speaking from my perspective but i have a feeling you're gonna try and turn it on me for speaking objectively when i wasn't, because you can't figure out how to read what's automatically implied in these kinds of statements.
