This is so revolutionary to me. Most advice websites and schools etc are telling you to paddle faster and stronger, try and get in early etc. Crap advice especially for female surfers, do not have the upper body strength to just paddle harder and faster. Oreo biscuit has worked wonders for me. I have a much more natural feel for my shortboard and big(get) waves.. Thank you Ombe.

Another great clip with awesome tips. Watched this last night and put it to use today. Combining arching, focusing on gliding in and slowing down, and eyes down the line are game changers. Really enjoy all the content, keep it up. 🤙

I like the not looking down aspect often times you psych yourself out and think the wave is a lot bigger than it actually is

I recently started making more waves than missing. Been trying to implement what you said about looking down line and not over paddling. Rather than paddle hard I angle and get ready for tail to lift then zip in. Haven’t had a chance to try in overhead surf yet. I was really struggling getting hung up the last time it was overhead at my beach

Game changer for me was to arch my back and actually stop paddling when the wave is a metre away, the wave picks you up then pop up

Slow down is the key, wait till you feel your board start gliding then it's time to pop up. Slow down my friends.. Be water (B.Lee)

Such good stuff!! I've noticed big changes with these tips too. I can get in this space fairly easily when I'm just out with a few other folks - but when it's crowded I have trouble keeping all these things in mind and tend to blow it more often than not. Any tips there? (Big beach break waves for me are head and a half... So for lots of folks that's still fun sized and it can be pretty crowded)

It's the second video I've seen where they say Don't look down. But if you watch Mason or you watch Nathan. You can see they totally go to the bottom first and look straight down. Not every wave. Because not every wave is the same. But to make a steadfast rule of not looking down. Might not be good

I'd say for 99% of surfers looking up is massively beneficial. Bit like John John drops his hands alot whereas ur supposed to keep ur backhand high coffee cup etc. I think sometimes the pros with crazy talent can muddy the water a bit. For me looking up been a game changer

@@MrLeeson660 I totally agree with you. The first time I looked where I wanted to go, above my shoulder, changed everything for me. I had the feeling that the wave stopped and I thought: I don't need to look at the board to stand up.

In big waves you have to look the Oreo in the eye. Then it's all slow and easy.
