Thank you! All of the kung fu I teach is Choy Li Fut (and a little tai chi), I have never learned Hung Gar, you'll have to learn it from someone else. I'd suggest looking up Sifu Lam Chun Fai, Sifu Oscar Lam, Sifu Chiu Chi Ling, Sifu Teddy Lai, Sifu Sharif Bey, Sifu Donald Hamby, Sifu Rosa Trenado, Sifu Michael Goodwin, Sifu Mark Houghton and his Daughter Charlene Houghton, Sifu Wing Lam has a lot of videos, and I'm sure there's a ton of Hung Kuen videos from the great Lau Kar Leung. There's also a really good website and KZfaq channel called Practical Hung Kyun that is an excellent resource. (If anyone wants to add please feel free to comment as I'm sure I missed some) I hope that helps, thanks again!!!

It's tough to say exactly without seeing you do it. My guess is either you are not throwing enough power into the spin as you raise it upward over your head. Another possibility is that you are gripping too tightly and not allowing the hands to slide a bit on the middle section which could hinder the momentum. Let me know if either one sounds like the right direction. If you want you can also upload a video to YT and send it to me to review.
