I love the layers in the Bible. Makes my heart sing! Mustard seeds (something good/natural) Yeast (in other parts of the bible something bad/fungus) He will use both good and bad to bring those to the Kingdom 😭❤️ I LOVE HIM so much

I used to drink at the Eagle and Child (known locally as the Bird and baby) when I lived near Oxford. The Inklings used to meet in a private room at the back of the pub, no longer there as the bar was extended when the pub was modernised. On the wall in the main bar is a framed document which inaugurated the Inklings. Great sermon by the way. My wife and I have been following this series, and have got a lot from it.

There is yeast in the air naturally. In way olden days (before packets of yeast), people could set their dough outside and it would collect yeast from the air, percolate, and rise. Then, after a while, they started saving little bits of dough as you said, and used that.

Can the parable mean as small seed and appears big because “birds of the air” make it appear big (bad influences and human efforts) and the “leaven”!(of the pharisees aka bad church leaders) that makes it appear big by human efforts but devoid of spiritual reality.
