It took a long time to make the decision to restart my animal crossing new horizon's island. I was unhappy with it for a while, and though I made small decisions to revamp some parts, I decided the total time it'd take to do that for EVERYTHING I built over 6 months didn't seem worth it. SO I restarted my island, and I am beyond happier. Excited to show y'all an island tour way later lmao. Hope this helps you if you decide to restart!

Thanks for watching! Legit it took forever for me to take the plunge, but I basically said f**k it, restarted, and i'm extremely happy! Still a work in progress, but I have more knowledge of knowing different island layouts, entrance possibilities, etc. Hope this helps. :D

I’m having a tough time accepting the fact that I DO want to restart, but it is my first switch, first island, and I have no amiibos. Like you said “look at it as a new opportunity” but I’m just SO ATTACHED. I’m getting very irritated with the island layout I picked too and I am no where near finished decorating and it’s just all around a mess.... I think I’m having a island crisis... Help?🤦🏽‍♀️

Thank you! This is really helpful! I’m definitely restarting, I only have attachment due to it being my first island, I’m not bothered as much about anything else and I have amiibos if I need them, and it’s better to be happy with your island than not so I’m 100% going for it :)

I restarted twice since the game first came out lol I recently did it the second time towards the end of january, and I love the layout of my island now and and the items are better for the way I want my theme to be which is gonna be a witchy/fairycore/cottagecore theme if I can bring that all together nicely and im off to a good start:) no regrets

I'm considering restarting for over a year right now, I haven't touched the game since pretty much the release of 2.0 update and I would really want to experience the "full" game in the proper fresh way especially since I've been feeling burned out for a really long time, but for some reason I "can't" mentally do that, I've put like 300 hours in this game and got kinda attached to the villagers I have in a weird parasocial way (even though I haven't checked on them for like a 1.5 year right now), idk what I should really do, I know I'm overthinking this and games are made to bring some fun to our lifes instead of some attachment problems but it is what it is

I totally get what you mean. You can always transfer your most important items to a trusted friend and get it back later, or buy amiibos for your fave villagers (i got mine on etsy). Some people also bought a new switch and just played a new save on that haha. I know for me before restarting I barely touched it and just got too bored, at least with restarting I had something to look forward to. Although admittedly I don't want to do the grind any more lol. Hope you're able to do what makes you the happiest!

i honestly hate my island, I despise the layout and everything about the way i put because i was young when i got acnh and completely regret the choices i made, But im too attached to my villagers, because i have 2 VERY rare villagers as well as some cute ones and would hate to lose them so im trying to fix everything and its starting to look nice, with the help of my aunt who plays it a lot (shes in her 20's, not an old lady if thats what you're thinking)

I empathize. Ultimately it depends what's more important to you. For now you can't change island layouts, but at least you can always get some villagers back! :) I recommend etsy amiibos to make it easier, well worth the $ and less than the actual ones. Good luck! :)

you can always ask a friend to keep your miles as tickets or keep your bells - idk you can always replace that, but you can't replace your island (yet) and layout unless you restart so....lol your choice :)

I’ve been thinking about restarting since the game got kinda stale, and my resident services and rivermouths are just not in the places I’d like them to be at. I’m still attached to the island though (even if only 1/4 of it is actually designed) because I really like most of my villagers and it’s my first island, but I’ve only put in about 100 hours into the game and I’m thinking of restarting.

I’m in a similar situation. I love my island and design so much but I time travelled and traded so much to get there. I feel I haven’t worked for my island and it’s just not fun to play on anymore.

I feel you, I had like 500 hours for my first save lol. Ultimately I started playing less and less, and now I have my new island which I really do love. :) Still takes work, but worth it so far

Hey, haven’t watched yet but I got the game and my switch in July of 2021. Played the hell out of it. I didn’t have a ton to do after kk, so after paying off my home I went to Nookazon. I bought all the golden tools and rare flowers. Got thousands of nmt. I quit playing in December. I don’t want to lose everything, but I would keep playing if I had something to play for again.

I've reset my island 3 times since mid september 2020. The first time I wasn't happy with it and I didn't really do any terraforming. The second time because I wanted to do a themed island but didn't want to flatten it becuse it would thay way more time instead of restarting. The 3rd time was because the last rocks got too much on my nerves not wanting to spawn where they were supposed to. Now I'm waiting for my lite to come back of repairs to start working on it becuase I restarted it just before it got almost imposible play.

@@everjanine I need your opinion! So I kind of cheated in animal crossing and got money through a glitch, that way I could finish off with the house and my island. I pretty much had everything done. But I feel like I didn't experience it the right way. It just feels wrong. I had a great time, but I don't have motivation to decorate my island and make it beautiful. Should I restart? @@martingohler8431 hello! Hmm I think I'd invite you to question how important is the experience of feeling like you've "earned" the things in your island? You can argue that you already put in the time before, and now you're benefiting from a beautiful blessing and can have the island of your dreams w/o worrying about the bell collecting. If you are unable to enjoy it fully and lost motivation to decorate, then by all means restart! I'd be mindful of your island layout / color / flowers, if you like what you have rn it might be worth to keep it considering it's hard to get the same layout twice. Also if it's any consolation I kinda bypassed the bell collecting by investing in the Stalk Market and some people can call that 'cheating', esp. if you add time travel, buuuut ultimately it's your game and you are free to enjoy and play it the way you want. :D The main goal is to create an island you love, and we all go thru the challenges of finding recipes etc. So do what makes you happiest!! Hope this helps :D feel free to ask for more input if needed ^^

So like I’m having a issue- so I wanna reset but I also don’t wanna lose my island that took me at least a year and a half to get to 5 star- but I wanna restart just for nostalgia- but like there were somethings that I wanna be able to get again which I can but it will take a while- I’m happy with my island but I just wanna restart but at the same time I don’t- I don’t know what to do Q-Q

@@everjanine I restarted but I kinda kept going on restarting and restarting cuz like some villagers I didn’t really like until I got Shari and Antonio and I loved them both so I’m just sticking with the island I got :/ (honestly I just thought that most things I can just get back at some point in the game it will just take a while which for me it’s fine)
