Good point, but I think the Gray Jedi fit your description better. I agree about the allusion between the Jedi and religion. But do you think Palpatine, Vader, Maul were fighting for freedom, and their methods valid?

@@ForceInsights Power in and of itself is not inheriantly 'evil', whether or not it is a power dirived from either the 'lightside', or 'the darkside'. It is simply power. Whether it is 'evil', or good, wholly depends upon the intention of the one or ones whom possess it. As to Palpatine himself, though he did indeed work towards the 'Prophecy of The Re-Ascendancey of the Sith.', there was yet another reason for his methodologies, tactics and strategies. Mainly uniting the galaxy, and preparing it for the eventual, and unavoidable arrival and invasion of the known galaxy by the Uzon Vong. The known galaxy under the inefficiency and ineffectiveness of The Old Republic, would have had little if any chance of successfully repelling such an invasion. Especially when one considered how divided it was with petty rivalries ect, as well as the glaring lack of a Republic Armada.
