Texas high school football follows the Allen Football way of doing things. Allen only plays an out-of-state team when they know they can beat them. This gives the illusion that they are the best in the country. For years when they had Kyler Murray, Bishop Gorman (with Tate Martell) called them up, wanting to play them and they declined). Bishop Gorman sent out invitations to the State Champions teams in Florida, California, and Texas. Texas State Champion Allen was the only one that declined. California and Florida State Champions accepted. When Texas teams play top-tier teams they get embarrassed, so they avoid this at all cost. The Allen football formula is to play a cupcake schedule, go undefeated, you will not play a reputable Texas opponent until the semi-finals of the playoffs. They brag about the 6 playoff games hahaha this too is an illusion because 4 of those teams are throw-away games for the undefeated teams. With the average margin of victory being 40+ points or more by the 3rd quarter. Other States this would not be allowed these obviously Cupcake schedules. I think in most states top-tier teams have to play each other or the regulatory body will rearrange the divisions making sure that you play each other. That's why you have the Trinity League (the most Daunting league in the country). Put Westlake in the Trinity league they are a 4th place team. Westlake and other top tier teams in Texas (except Duncanville (balls of steel), very few others) follow this formula of the Allen CupCake schedule. That's why you rarely get them (Top tier Texas teams) playing each other during the regular season.

Westlake is a public high school.They are good at football.They have a goal every year of winning the state championship.They are currently the 2 time defending 6A champions, 2019 6A DIV 2 and last years DIV 1 6A champion.They have nothing else to prove to anyone, anywhere.The national polls are subjective.I personally think that they should separate the public schools and private school polls.Anyone NOT seeing the advantages of private schhools vs public schools are delusional.Westlake has enough competition in the state of Texas and has nothing to prove to anyone outside the state.And why hate on these mostly white, affluent kids for having parents that worked hard,got college degrees and have been successful in life?I'm guessing they don't vote in the national poll either.
