Today I'm sharing 3 reliable tests (that you probably haven't heard of) that will tell you WHEN TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL IN LABOR! We want to avoid going too early (just to get sent home). We also want to avoid having baby at home or on the way (unless you are planning a home birth). Of course this is general information only and NOT applicable to high risk pregnancies or special situations. Always talk to your own provider about when THEY want you to come to the hospital!

Good tips! I had irregular contractions for my whole labor. I got in the shower after having contractions for an hour because the bath seemed uncomfortable. I was only in the shower for 30 seconds before I got out and started pushing! If baby hadn't been posterior, we never would have made it to the birth center!

I knew it was time to go to the hospital after the doctor told me 'come back tomorrow at 10am'.

I’ve been exercising to your videos throughout my pregnancy, and I have been feeling great! I am due in 7 weeks! Question, how long should we stay in the bath or shower with warm water? 20 mins? 1 hr? I definitely want to try to stay at home as long as possible before I go to the hospital, I live about 15 minutes from the hospital.

Yes, 15-20 minutes is a good amount of time to relax. I finding I needed to keep moving my location and position so too long wasn't possible :) You are going to do amazing!

I’m a little nervous to even ask this but I know every birthing plan is different for each person. Would you be able to provide more tips if wanting to go down the epidural route? Thank you for all your videos! It’s my first pregnancy although it’s been a long journey for us.

No need to be nervous… you know what is going to work for you! If you want an epidural then ask your provider in your appointment about it. When you get to the hospital let them know and ask how long the wait might be if you decide to you need one. If it’s fast then you can wait and see (I never felt like I needed one with my first) but if it’s a wait you may want to make a plan earlier 💞

Their is also fallow your instinct. With my first, I fallow the 511 rule, took a shower, it got so intense that at 9pm I went to the hospital but I did not start pushing until 7am. Sure I could have waited home but I was so in pain they kept me.. even the epidural didn't work. With my second, I tried looking for 511 but I ended up going to the hospital because I was in so much pain and I was throwing up. I had no contractions. I was at the hospital at 11pm but started having 311 contractions at 12am. I was only 2cm dialated and the nurse was trying to send me home to come back later but I knew better and refused. At 1 am my water broke and at 3am I was over 6cm dialated. Started pushing at 5am and baby came 30 minutes later. The hospital was 40 minutes away, I didn't want my husband do the driving and good thing he didn't. I trusted my instinct, for some reason I never saw that nurse after she told me to go home... 🤣

@@PregnancyandPostpartumTV it was so hard. With my first their was no one in the hospital so they were very accomdating. For some reason with my second the hospital was packed with pregnant women giving birth (I found that out after I realised I gave birth in a checkup room and not a birthing room). The postpartum nurses were telling me their was a babyboom and it is true. With my first I was able to get a private room postpartum, with my second I was in a room with 3 other mamas (after waiting 4 hours post delivery). So I understand the nurse who told me to go home now, but back then I was an angry mama bear 🤣
