Remeron is crazy long lasting. Taking at night about 5mg it induces sleep so fast like 15 minutes then next day feel zombie spaced out all day like I smoked pot. Spec sheet indicates a few weeks before it has antidepressant effects similar to most other antidepressant specs but it works within 15 min what is up with that? It works right away. The dreams after remeron are like being in a movie so vivid.

Yep I can vouch for that. I feel exactly like that right now. I feel empty, hollow, speech is slurred. Head feels empty

I use Remeron and it requires extensive intermittent fasting to control weight. I'm always hungry due to the fasting.

Most anti depressants have that potential side effect, not just mirtazapine

The reason the risk for suicide can go up with antidepressants is because many people who take them already have suicidal thoughts, but are too depressed and thus too unmotivated to actually go through with it. So, once you start taking them, your depression will start to fade but your negative thoughts might not right away, meaning the chances that you're willing to act on those thoughts can increase. That being said, the risk is still very low, and you're much much MUCH more likely to become less suicidal after starting antidepressants.

Don’t you think it could be the increase in food intake that’s causing elevated cholesterol & triglycerides, and not the mirtazapine per se?

i,m on mirtazapine for years at first i had alot of cravings but they sibsided sometimes certain side effects wore off when you get used to the drug

@@nadiabonnici7788 I’ve been on it 4 years and yes, the big appetite does decrease after a year or so. But you’ve usually put on at least 50 lbs by then. I gained 80.

Was given to me for sleep. Crapped out on me now I have to go through months/years of tapering to get off of it.

I tapered off for 2 years, thought I was good and then started having terrible allergy issues and my dry eyes got much worse. I’ve been back on it a week, trying desperately to get back to feeling somewhat normal and so far it hasn’t helped much. Dry eyes are making life hard.

J am starting with 3.75 mg (half of 7.5 mg) of mirtazapine for insomnia, can be this very low dosage of mirtazapine (3.75 mg) potentially sufficient for insomnia?

From my understanding, the lower the dose, the higher the sedative effect

@@snaxandviolencewell this can only be up to a certain minimum dose. I'm pretty sure 0,0001mg wont put you to sleep better than 5mg

@@snaxandviolence yes that,s what a doctor told me i am on 15mg and once i told him shall i increase ? he said no if not it won,t make you sleepy that much but to be honest i tried and still worked

Yes. I would not ever go higher than 5 mgs on this medication! You may even want to try an every other day schedule. This medication is very strong.

I stopped taking mirtazapine rather quickly for a week I felt fine but going into second week off this drug I can feel that I feel a bit strange. I can’t put my finger on it to explain properly.

@@SellyNue hello my dose for mirtazapine was 15mg and I jumped off 15. It took about 4 weeks before I felt ok again. Although looking back now it wasn’t that bad I’ve heard people go through worse

Terrible drug, awful side effects, don't start it, it's hard coming off it I hate it, trying to get off it now, so far , 45 down to ,30 for nearly a month I will try down to 25 maybe next week I just hope my terrible light headedness will get better, it only is better if I lsy down

@@paterson90 yes I also am very very light headed It's ok if I lie down but any other time I'm very light headed so I am in bed all the time I take 45mg but I tappering down now at 35mg are you tappering or what are you taking, I also take zopiclone at bedtime Let me know cheers Alan

@@paterson90 use melatonin with some tea there’s some natural plants you can use for tea that’ll help u sleep but mirtazapine isn’t worth it
