I launched my first hair company in 2012 and ever since I have been obsessed with learning this industry so that I can figure out how we as black women can start earning what we deserve in this industry that our dollars have built.
I’ve made many solo trips to China. I had to hit up multiple cities because there are so many lies floating around. Some suppliers will lie and tell you that they are in a factory and have you fly to Guangzhou just to find out that they are simply in a sales office with a warehouse of trash hair. Yes, I've been through it all from scams to shady hair vendors but through it all, I learned enough to build the Lady Leader Library that helps women prevent mistakes while building their virgin hair company.

Hey love the video, quick question. When getting with a vendor do you recommend going through their sales manager or one of the workers?!

It depends, if you are just communicating online and making small / sample orders it really doesn't matter. The service and price will be the same and eventually a Sales manager will probably pass you off to a sales team member anyway because their job is to manage the team not customer service. Now if you are negotiating things like larger orders, private label, long term contracts or scheduling a factory tour it may be best to communicate with the manager because sales team members can only do so much and they change jobs just like a sales rep here in the states.

Various places, some factories buy from India or Korea. Some source locally in the souther regions.

In my personal opinion if you have the budget, have a long term plan for your hair company, and know where in China to go I say take the trip. Shel Sparkle it depends how on the source. Sometimes that’s the case, sometimes it’s not. Sorry I couldn’t be more clear but there many aspects that determine quality & price. 😊
