One of the most sensible videos I've ever viewed. This video is bursting with common sense. It's damn refreshing to know there are still men in this world who can articulate ideas based on their superior level of awareness gathered through their personal experiences and not quoting text books and industry cliches.

I was working a gig and Martin sheen walked up and started talking to me. I didn't realize that it was Martin. Someone else told me after. LoL. I just thought he was in promotions. I wasn't briefed on who else was in the building. I don't get emotional about clients. They're just people.

Folks, Byron legitimately is a legend is this field. Him and a few others are kind enough to share FACTS about our industry. I tell people this all the time, idc about your background I care about who you are. Integrity and work ethic are all that matter to me. Great video sir. I ask co workers every time I first meet them, what’s your most important weapon on a detail? Mine is my brain.

@@ExecutiveProtectionLifestyle I have been contemplating joining the service and going sof or similar to gain experience to even be considered "qualified." I have been doing research and discovered it is still possible with enough training and dedication. After finishing this video it truly spoke to me and I want to know more. Hope you see this! Thanks.

I am a woman. I have 5 years in security in British Columbia Canada. I have passed my Surrey police exam, as a confidence booster for the RCMP. I have currently been considering executive security very seriously. I am almost 24. I love my job, I know I have emotional intelligence, I know I have a respectful, calm, professional relationship with all my bosses, and strive to be integritaful.. full of integrity.. It is my most valued trait. This video was so helpful. I have posted a few videos on my own channel for uniformed security gaurds, and have also been a ‘bouncer’ at certain nightclubs in Kelowna who have notorious biker gang connections. Everything you have said in this video is so informative and true. I hope to obtain a successful career one day in this field as I am passionate about keeping people safe, and far from harm. Thank you!

Given your unit’s mission and command approval, you do not necessarily have to wait until you get out of service. I’ve been active duty for 9 years now and I also work Executive Protection on the weekends and fill in during holidays/off time. The firm I’m with is also listed as a DoD Contract so we have to at least go through an accredited Executive Protection certification course.

@markkouri2877

Prior military or police experience isn’t a requirement, but it can help…it may also get in the way. One can certainly learn the craft required to be a successful professional without having ever put on a uniform. Professional security, especially close-protection/executive protection is far more mental than physical. Successful operators are often inconspicuous and don’t get into physical altercations or draw their weapons. If you were standing next to them you may not have a clue what they do for a living. Nonetheless, a true professional is physically and mentally fit and is always vigilant and planning ten steps ahead. It can be a rewarding career. I have been privileged to work with and learn from experienced professionals who mentored me and I had great experience protecting VIPs in high threat areas. I have never drawn my weapon on those missions and never drew attention to myself. I consider that a success. I mentioned in the beginning that prior military or LEO experience might get in the way. Sticking out from the crowd for excessive size, body modifications such as tattoos, extreme hair cuts (high and tight), or exhibiting certain learned behaviors (alpha-male) might actually identify one as target. A skilled low-key operator can be more effective than an equally skilled high-profile individual who draws too much attention. If and when things don’t go according to plan it is brains that usually win out over brawn. I hope this is helpful. Good luck with your career.
