Joint pain 😖: Occurs at the facet joints and includes inflammation. It produces sharp, stabbing pain. It can turn into spinal stenosis that can cause sciatica. It also includes SIJ pain.
Disc Pain 😣: Discs are located in between each vertebrae. Disc pain occurs when the gel-filled discs between the bones in the spine bulge outwards and press on nerves. This can cause pain, numbness, or weakness, and can occur anywhere along the spine, but is most common in the lower back.The yellow, shown here, is the annulus (the strong outer ring) and the blue is the jelly. When the jelly pushes outwards, you experience a disc herniation leading to pressure on the sciatic nerve.
Muscle Pain 😩: Muscle pain is quite common. We’ve created lots of content with anatomy art so have a scroll through to check it out. The most common muscles that are responsible for Low Back Pain are the Iliopsoas, Quadratus Lumborum, the Gluteals and the Multifidus muscles.

As a younger man, I thought IS pain was just my normality because I'm tall. Flexibility and strength. Took me some decades to believe it. Hadn't had lasting backpain for years, despite working on a desk.

I had all of these at different points in my life. Much better now though. Took years of stretching/foam rolling, activating and growing my glutes properly and relearning how to move.

I’m currently struggling with all of these, can i ask you what you did to start? I try to do little stretches everyday but I get defeated everytime because the pain always comes back :(

@jessievella3863 Stretching only provides temporary relief. You have to *strengthen* your muscles to get the joints aligned properly and eliminate pain. I was diagnosed with arachnodites 7 years ago. Pain is awefull from my neck to my toes. Also my buttocks on the outer sides. Drinking anti-inflamotories every morning and neuronton 300 mg in the morning and 300 mg at night. I have no balance when I am on one leg. My legs are very week. Trying to do some leg strengthening excercises. Your videos are very helpful. 😊

Stretching, the right kind and ultrasound heat helped me. Mine was right sided too.

Hi i have been told from xrays that i have some sort of arthritis is my L4/L5 . Thats all the information i got so its not clear what specifically is causing my pain…Is there another method to determine which of these i have? Also i loooove your content and the muscle and bone illustrations. It helps me to understand my body so much more. Thank you!

Your lumbar spine is likely in too much flexion or extension all the time, which is putting wear and tear on the disc and vertebra. A lot of people get caught up in the diagnoses, but so much can be corrected with the same targeted approach of strengthening the muscles responsible for joint alignment/centration. That's what our programs help with.

Mid back tight stiff muscle mainly right side of spine This occurs mostly after working out or doing some type of strenuous work Had X-rays and confirmed arthritis Chiropractor feels great but never 100% fixes the problem Thx

I tore my hamstring on my left leg and I'm thinking that i detached a muscle or 2 from the bone, because my left side is definitely weaker than my right side and the right side of my spine takes on most of the load... making my muscles along the right side of the spine knot up... causing pain up the left side of my spine up to my shoulders from being off level... Like an accordion opening to one side feeling when i walk or sit...

I do twisting (lie on my back and throw one leg over the other to twist my torso) to click my IS joint back into position I think - but an older friend says he now did that for years and now has worse back pain so I'm wondering if twisting and clicking the IS joint may be harmful if done too often ?
