In this video we look at three examples of specific ways you can make money to fund your cruising:
Example #1 is investing. This can give you a passive income (you can literally get paid while you sail, lie on a beach or sleep), with the downside of this method being risk. You also need funds to invest, which you have to obtain elsewhere.
Example #2 is consulting. You can do this from anywhere on the planet provided you have solid internet access. Consulting can make full use of all of your education, skills and experience, and if you can provide a lot of value to others you can earn a good hourly rate for your time. The downsides are that this is not scalable and it is not passive at all. If you stop working for whatever reason, you stop earning.
Example #3 is book publishing as a business. Again, you can do this from anywhere on the planet, and it has the potential to create truly passive income for you for many years to come. The downside is you have to be prepared to put work in before you start to see substantial results, and unless you are learning from someone who knows the business inside out, you will have a steep learning curve. Some initial investment is required, but far less than a traditional 'bricks and mortar' business.
These are just three examples of the plethora of options available for cruisers these days. If you want true freedom while you are cruising then you should concentrate on building passive income, and if you want to learn a lot more about this then click on the link above to be first in line to get our Financial Freedom PDF as soon as it is finished.

Cool! The book idea is something I haven't heard from other videos, so that's great. What did you two do for careers before sailing?

Book publishing is an interesting opportunity for sure... Chris: 7.5 years in the military as an aircraft technician, piloted & maintained ROVs (underwater robots) on and off since 2006, became a boat importer / dealer at 26 years old (financed by two huge unsecured loans which were paid off ASAP!), done lots of other things along the way (always working towards freedom!) Rossella: Degree in Economics, Masters Degree in Economics and International Management, got sucked in to being a boat importer /dealer with me... since we sold up Rossella has been working flexibly ever since so that we have time to go to the UK and the boat throughout the year. Ro has been involved in many things and has gained a lot of experience in diverse fields. We are completely opposite personalities, so we work really well together as a team. I bet that's a longer answer than you bargained for! Cheers, Chris 👍

Great info 👍 also data entry is an online job that pays about $10 to $12 hr and Informative Websites with adsense ads can bring in $100 to $2000 a month.

Hi Paul, building websites is great as it creates passive income and is scalable, data entry is at the other end of the scale... Send our love to the family! 👍

Hi Chris, Ispotted you wearing the iMax thermo suit on your trip over the channel. Im thinking about getting it too but wondered what your thoughts are on the product? Any issues with quality or wear and tear? it seems very well priced for what it is...almost too cheap Any thoughts yourself, would you recommend it?

Hi Matt, I love that suit and it is the best £75 ish I have spent in a long time! It’s very warm, so it may be too hot for summer use, but for spring, autumn & winter it’s perfect. Cheers, Chris 👍

Buy a sailboat in Europe and go to Australia, and sell it there! For the return there is always someone who needs help to bring their sailboat( and they pay well!)to Europe, once in Europe, do the same again! It is more profitable than many imagine.

Well consulting wouldn't work for me. I just don't see anyone willing to pay a consulting fee for information about cooking. :p 20+ years working as a cook doesn't leave much for consulting.
@SailingBritaly

I have a couple of ideas which could work for you Jaqui. We all have valuable skills and with the connected world we live in there are a multitude of possibilities to earn a living from our skills & experience. There are people out there making a fortune in niches which at first glance seem to be difficult to monetise, but if you delve deeper there is always a way... Reach out to me if you would like some advice on this. Chris :-)

@@SailingBritaly oh, I know I could monetize my knowledge from cooking, a booklet on tips and tricks, a cook book both come to mind. One aspect of cooking that is often forgotten is time / project management. A party of 25 comes in to eat, you have the "project" of getting 25 meals ready at the same time. times as many seats the facility has ( 250 is the average for the restaurants I worked in. ) It is the consulting aspect about cooking I don't see working. :D

How much pain would someone have to go through to learn the lessons you have learnt over the last 20+ years? How much more efficient would their business be if you were to impart some of your hard-won specialist knowledge to them? I'm sure you could offer valuable advice to a less experienced restaurant owner. (First example off the top of my head: "Offer x on the menu, instead of y: x has much higher profit margins, is quicker to prepare and will make your business much easier to manage.") Anyone who has knowledge which can impart value to someone in a 30 minute call can make money from consulting services if they so desire, and finding clients is just a question of engaging with others online. However, as we discussed in this video, consulting isn't scalable, so there are usually far better ways to monetise knowledge. With the internet you can reach lots of people easily, and even if they pay a relatively small amount this can add up to a significant income. There will be more to follow in future videos and our Financial Freedom PDF will cover different options too. :-)

@@jaquigreenlees restaurants, caterers and institutions with dining kitchens are now forced into new compliance requirements due to CV-19. Many people are still hesitant about freely dining out. If you have general operation and food prep knowledge, you can sell a bi-monthly/quarterly audit for best practices and efficiencies improvement. Improvements like outdoor seating requires tents, plexiglass dividers, heaters, etc which you can partner with suppliers for referral fees. You can engage by offering a general questionnaire to see of you see any areas you can help them with quick cheap wins and map out longer term projects that might require larger budgets and how to plan and execute on those. Questionnaire, Gap Analysis, Remediation plan. Recurring billings. Keep the initial engagement costs very reasonable to get them engaged with low obligation.

This is a business course. Like a university degree, except you learn how to start and run a business and you are taught by someone who is on the cutting edge of this industry, rather than someone who hasn’t worked in the real economy for the past couple of decades. In the UK students are paying up to £9k per year just for their tuition fees (not including living expenses and lost potential earnings) and after 4 years they come out with a piece of paper, a mountain of debt, and in many cases bleak job prospects. Or you can invest a few hundred dollars in a course like this and build a business which can set you up for life (even in uncertain times such as this). This is nothing like AMWAY. Chris
