3 Way Rig For Catfish (Best Tutorial)

Learn how to tie a 3 way rig for catfish. This is one of the most popular catfish rigs there is, especially for boat fishing.
This is not really the best catfish rig, but it can be very effective.
The advantages of this rig are that you can adjust it so your bait can be at different depths, and the weight of the sinker can be changed very quickly compared to some inline setups.
The major problem with the rig is there is a good chance it will tangle either while casting, drifting, or when fighting the catfish.
Popular alternatives to this rig are a Carolina, or slip sinker rig, and a santee cooper rig. I have videos on how to tie those two rigs as well.
To tie the 3 way rig, start by tying a large figure 8 knot in a section or line, forming a large loop.
Make this section of line 1-2' long, and tie the free end to one eye on a 3-way swivel.
Next, tie a snell knot onto your circle hook of choice. Make this section on line 1-2' long, and tie the free end to another eye on the three way swivel.
Now just attach your mainline on your rod to the last eye on the three way swivel, and attach a weight through the loop you created earlier. Now you are ready to catch some catfish!

Man I don't know how many times I've watched this video. The advice about our sinker leader being lighter than our hook leader makes a whole lot of sense. I have yet to heed to your teaching. Therefore I lose way too many complete rigs. 😡 I promise I'll do better. Excellent tutorial. I have learned a lot from this video. Thank you so much. 👍🏾👍🏾

Never knew the name of the knot i keep using. Lol. I forget who taught it to me but it stuck with me since i was young. The improved clinch knot. I use it for everything. Need to learn more knots which is one reason im watching the vids. Lol. Thanks for the info and great video.

I ordered this to net the algae in a large pond in our backyard. kzfaq.infoUgkxphFK7ETiDP5G4IGsNcg7vbASDp_YfDpI The net is very sturdy and easy to maneuver in the water. The angled edges make it easier to get into the smaller spaces among the rocks. I didn't realize that the front of the net doesn't actually have a frame to it, just the sides do, but it seems to work just fine. The handle extends to various sizes, which is a great feature when I'm in areas that are tight with shrubs at the edges of the pond. I can collapse the handle so it doesn't get stuck in the bushes.

Would this work? I have some 3 way swivels so I was thinking of doing a knocker rig but the 3 way swivel would have a hook in each of the 2 holes the 3rd would attach to the main line and the weight would be on the main line like a knocker rig

Yea but the leader line going off to the left, how is it going to be elevated? Would you recommend a peg float 4" back? But wouldn't that elevate it off the ground so that it would be nearly parallel with the main line coming from reel?

When you fish this rig with this color of mono do you get more bites or less bites
