Great tutorial. For those striving for absolute perfection, make sure to also snap the first handle (on the left side) to the guideline, so both curves are exactly the same.

Teela, thank you for sharing this. I was trying to follow video (made 3 years ago) where you basically make a box, rotate it 45 degrees and use the pen tool to grab the anchor points and drag them out to create rounded corners. I couldn't make that one work maybe because I have AI CC version. It was similar to yours but had a few less steps. Regardless, YOURS worked well for me and I want to thank you again, I was getting frustrated and it was so easy, lol. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thanks again!

Thank you for the tutorial. For the 3rd example of heart, i tried effects> stylise>'Round corners' option. When i used 'Divide' in Pathfinder, the shape just split out into 4 different shapes. I doubt it is the same as making the corners round the other way.

I use curve pen on a half and then just reflect it as you did

Hey!! So I’m trying the 2nd method with the pills, when I use pathfinder to divide the sections, it rounds out all the parts within the selection and it turns into 5 ovals instead of staying in shape... help!!! Please!
