On day two, I continue the ascent up the Watkin path and make a plan to shelter from the worst of the weather before attempting the final steep section up to the summit. Despite my research, this section was far more challenging than I anticipated. It's physically demanding which is fine for me, I love a scramble - but it's the steep angles, exposure and sketchy scree slopes that made it really scary. I questioned my life choices on that path! 😄 Having said that, now that I've done it, I can't wait to do it again.. next time will be with someone, only a day bag, and with a go-pro on a chest mount
I made camp just off the Minors path in some shocking weather, nearly lost my tent and got a bit hangry. What a day!
Apologies for occasional wind noise in this, I'd intended to film this trip on my camera, but due to the rain I ended up using my phone quite a lot, which I didn’t bring the mic for - I’ll bring both mics next time

You are truly inspirational. Many years ago I roamed the mountains of Scotland, but after lots of shoulder surgery, I could no longer carry a rucksack. However, watching your vlogs has encouraged me to get an ultralight tent and equipment, and have started going into the hills locally, as a start. So - so many thanks to you for your honest and raw accounts. Don’t stop!!!

Finding the balance - pushing yourself to challenge your fear - not pushing yourself to the point of making your fear worse - really honest film without being self obsessed or self critical. Great job, both of getting to the summit and in how you've show that journey here. The moment "boots with no socks, horrible" made me laugh, anyone whoever camped has had that moment, just want to "get out there, get the task done, get back in the tent, forget the socks - cold wet boots on skin YUK!" but we've all done it...you're the first youtuber I've seen show that honest moment. On the basis of this vid, I will subscribe.

Just brilliant. Both on getting to the summit but also filming your adventures. The smile on your face when you made it to the top has made my day. When pitching in the wind I always tie a guy to my rucksack - that way if a gust takes it out my hand it's not going too far with a rucksack in tow. I do the same when taking the tent down. Thanks again and stay safe.

Favorite moment was when you said it was insane, then couldn’t help smiling. I’d bet, once you’re home, you’ll look back and decide that you wouldn’t want any part of the trip any different-even the scree, the rain, the wind. Lots of wonderful lessons on such a trip, but you’ve nailed the hardest one of all: smiling even in the face of adversity. Thank you for bringing us along!

Funny as hell when you started to swear. It really shows how things effect people in different ways during the same situation. Your admin with the ability to push through when you are wet to dry off in the tent is spot on. I love my NX and with a little practice you certainly can put them up just as good outer first.

my 1st ascent of snowdon was the watkin path about 3 years ago (still aching now :-) ) the most beautiful scenery but it is hard. i'm a 50 yr old unfit man and took me 6 hours, the girl i was with was terrified on the scree slope on the way up and didn't want to go back down that way so we ended up taking the llanberis path down and ended up 25 miles away from the car, which i still remind her off every time i see her haha.

I had to pause at 9:40... I couldn't focus because of the tears in my eyes. When I did Snowdon I took the rangers path (which was amazing in itself) whilst my mate took the same route as you. We knew the terrain and I didn't want my fear of heights to ruin his experience. Anyways, we joined up at the top and that was great. You did great and the next time I come to the UK and do Snowdon I'm going to go for it!!! When I find myself paralyzed, clinging to the side I will think of your journey and your smile when you made it. Merci d'avance 😁

I always carry a stainless steel flask and fill it with boiling water. It weighs a little bit more than - say - a Nalgene bottle but the advantages include: 1. It’s bomb proof - it won’t squeeze out :) 2. It’s water storage 3. By making a relay of hot refills if you have to stop in bad weather you have an instant means to make a brew or even soup. 4. making a hot fill last thing at night means you can have a warm drink first thing whilst still in your maggot. I’ve had one since the 1980’s. My niece bought me a Sigg hot and cold for Christmas and it’s the dog’s. You can drink straight from it if you want and it retains heat really well, as well as having Sigg build quality. I’ve also added some additional extra insulation by putting two neoprene stubby coolers around it. It can also nest in a titanium mug.

Once again, a great video. Determination and smiles, with a hint of care, to go forward, but save something for another adventure. Generally mountain people are quite solitary, but don't hesitate to help others, when needed.

You summited in the weather that is N'Wales being its most Welsh. You got the full immersive experience, and the pleasure of getting out of it. The buzz never feels the same again. Revel in it, and hold it close for decades to come.
