Bro... One of the main reason for Rust below the kitchen drain... is due to sewer gas coming back from the drain.... to reduce 90% you should put P trap for drains... that should a standard practice for all drains.... but in India Drain P trap awareness is limited to Toilets, soil lines, grey water lines also need Ptrap...

True.. Biggest problem with P Trap is users put in all sort of kitchen waste inside sink which is tough to control & cleaning them frequently create more disadv over benefits IMO.
