The earliest lists of Seven Wonders of the Ancient World were made more than 2,000 years ago by ancient Hellenic tourists. Except for the Great Pyramid of Giza those wonders no longer exist. They were destroyed by earthquakes, fires and in one case by an angry mob. Many other lists of amazing structures have been made since then. Here’s a look at our list of the greatest man-made wonders of the world:

29:59 For those who are interested in the topic of polygonal masonry. A number of methods for obtaining the polygonal masonry are proposed. The basis of the proposed methods is the use of clay/gypsum replicas, a topography translator, and reduced clay models of the stone blocks along with a 3D-pantograph. The results are presented in the article: “Fabrication methods of the polygonal masonry of large tightly-fitted stone blocks with curved surface interfaces in megalithic structures of Peru”. When I visited - I wasn't really welcomed. First negative experience - it's very hard and time consuming to exchange currency and if you don't do that and pay in us dollars, the locals will get advantage of you by double pricing everything. Second - when trying to enter Angcor Wat on a rented bicycle, I was told that I have to by tickets 5 kilometres away from the entrance and immediately was offered a taxi for $25 which is ridiculously expensive for Cambodia. So I had to ride another 10 kilometres to get tickets. And the third one - once I've finally got there I was to discover that everything is way to expensive, including the basics - a bottle of water. As a tourist, I don't mind paying a bit extra for the locals to get profit out of tourism. But I don't like to be forced to do that, tricked or when locals are trying to get an advantage of me. Beautiful country, negative experience.

A part of the Madurai Meenakshi Temple which is the size of Pantheon in Greece ( though shorter ) is converted into a shopping center. The whole Temple is being destroyed by authorities and hawkers. Many paintings were destroyed and white paint coated over it. The temple has more than 30000 sculptures and more than 3000 monolithic stone pillars. Neither the Central, state nor local Authorities have any sense of art and doing everything to destroy it.

@@pritsingh9766 If any so-called modern Hindus .. have some idea, you should have Buddha in temples rather than Shiridi or roadside baba. Yes, Buddhism was yet another of several dozens of philosophies of India, it got prominent by the order of emperor Asoka... India switched to Buddism like a switch taking with them all the Sanata Dharma Philosophy so you find Buddhism's core philosophy on meditation, karma, and Nirvana (It differs from Hinduism on the origin and end of the universe). But as per Buddha, one should not pray to idols, no temples and no rituals .. Just 5 basic principles and never worry about life after death .. this was needed to end ritualistic nonsense in Sanata Dharam prevailing those days and now in lot more corrupted form of Hindu .. where every street-side baba is prayed. That is why you see most Hindu temples have Shirdi huge installed and not many praying the main deity.

I believe some of those included in this list - like Sydney Opera House, Eiffel Tower, Christ the Redeemer, Statue of Liberty - should be in a separate category. I don't think they have anything in common with the likes of ancient man-made wonders like Borobodur, Pyramids, Machu Picchu, Petra, and the rest. It's like a car show of vintage Rolls Royce cars with a sprinkling of Prius.

I love Angkor Wat and the philosophy behind it. The temple was originally built to honor Hindu’s Gods, but then converted to serve Buddhism. However, only new statues of Buddhas were added, almost no symbols of the other region were removed. That is harmony and sympathy.

In the ancient times, human built huge tall buildings, which are considered to be skyscrapers at that time, in order to be dedicated to a particular religion. In contrast, most skyscrapers nowadays are built for economic and commercial benefits. Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument ever built by mankind on earth. This magnificent colossal masterpiece has maintained this rank for nearly 900 years.

Number 3❤❤❤Angkor Wat is the most famous ancient temple site in Cambodia. With its 5 lotus-like towers rising 65 meters into the sky, it is an awe-inspiring sight. Located in Siem Reap, this UNESCO World Heritage site was once the largest pre-industrial city in the world.

@@akuyos2402 I've visited both Angkor Wat and also Borobudur in Jogja. I must say even though Borobudur is a magnificent monument, the Ankor Wat temples are especially magical. I was fascinated with how the late afternoon sun hitting the stone walls and structures of the temples make the stones almost seem to glow with an amber golden hue. Maybe it was my eyes. But oh damn, absolutely beautiful.

@@lll2282 Correction: During those times, there was nothing no word called HINDU .. it was Sanatana Dharma.. Then you have not visited Ajanta Ellora or Elephantine caves in India.. After emperor Asoka, there was no Current day Hindu (Sanatana Dharma) we all were converted Buddhists.. After Adi Shankaracharya won the debate with Mandala and Sanata Dharma was revived (Not Hinduism).. Hindu is the name given by Persians. In Short, after Emperor Asoka, Buddha is considered avataar of God and an accepted entity in many temples .. The biggest joke and insult is Shiridi in Hindu temples.

As impressive as these monuments are, I am more in awe of the people who built these structures especially those of the ancient world & how they carved & placed all these blocks in place never ceases to amaze me & I think of all those who lost their lives building these amazing places, May all these people R.I.P. These structures are a testimony to their hard work, blood, sweat & tears. Their fortitude & insight that they still stand today. Maybe some in ruins, which is probably caused be the greed & recklessness of man.
