That extra 70 bucks, pays for design, testing, etc. It took years to make the bobby. The Kalidi doesn’t have any of this because they just stole and copied the bobby design. Thus they can sell the backpack for less, because they shamelessly stole the design. Profiteering of someone else’s hard work and property is disgraceful. Also quality wise, I really wonder how the fake one will hold up over time. Usually knockoffs have a shorter lifespan. Warrantee and service are also a thing you pay for with the bobby. Even outside the 2 year warramtee by law, they still replace your backpack if you run in to problems. Not sure how Kalidi will respond to issues. Furthermore the Bobby is designed for good weight distribution and proper ventilation. The fake one pribably not.

First off, thank you for the comparison - quite useful indeed. However I feel the point of the Bobby backpack has been missed here, that being the security aspect. Unless the purchase is made for the interior and/or design, then that's irrelevant. But the Bobby is supposedly safer than other backpacks, slash and whatnot resistant. I honestly have no idea if the Kalidi is just as slash resistant (or if that's even a real life concern, to be honest) like the Bobby is supposed to be but - again - I feel that's something that should have been compared as well.

Nice comparison but you are clearly missing a really important point: manufacturing and guarantees. The original one is designed in the EU, has 2 years of guarantees, and is soustainable meaning you are also paying for good working condition of the one who are making the backpack. The "fake" one is probably made without any concern for the environment, could exploit labour force, has no guarantees. So yeah, maybe not everyone can afford the original but esthetic is not the only thing that matters when making a purchase decision.

I like how this video is very describing, and there is included statistics, compared to other dudes sittin in front of a screen 20 minutes. This channel deserves more subscribers.

Great review on the backpacks. I went with the Bobby because I wasn't comfortable buying a knockoff from an overseas website (only place I could find a Kalidi). Watching your 2 years later video made me lean towards the Bobby as well. The zipper failing sounded like something the Bobby wouldn't do and could get a replacement from the manufacturer. Either way, nice job on the video, you have earned another subscriber!

1:30 You don't know what you're talking about. That's not waterproof and if you wear this in heavy rain for an extended period water will get in through the mesh, and realistically, other places as well. There are reasons that genuinely waterproof backpacks tend to all pretty much have the same handful of designs with welded seams rather than stitched seams that then may or may not have seam tape to fix the fact that poking a needle through waterproof fabric creates a hole for water to leak through.

Somehow, this seems like a question of football fans. They 'll never agree. But all may be losing sight of certain "details", which I 'll point out in the following : 1.- We ( I include myself ) do not know for sure WHO made the "original" design. In a Mexican KZfaq video, XD Design Bobby and SkyPeak backpacks were compared, concluding that SkyPeak was due to certain characteristics ( TradeMarks, stiffness, rain protection sewed to the unit, double reflectants, etc ) which Bobby had not. And SkyPeak was then half the price or so. And I am not saying that this is proof of nothing. And there are a few more. 2.- In none of the reviews we find WHERE each backpack is REALLY manufactured. The persistent suspicion is that they are all made in China, probably by the same factory to have the costs low, and offered to firms with the addition of trademarks, colours, certain details, and exclusiveness on the attributes each firm wants. Usually, the first one puts the highest price to recover fastly his inversion, knowing that the following will lower the price to compete, but maximizing the profits anyway. It is a question of scale in economics and rules of thumb in commerce. 3.- The backpacks are introduced as ANTI - THEFT as a marketing resource, when they really are ANTI - SNATCHING and PICK POCKETING. Obviously, they are resistant to a certain extent, but they are not made of Kevlar, for their price would be a lot higher. All of them focus in making things difficult to snatchers and pick-pocketers, who strive on swiftness and unnoticeability. 4.- Backpacks should have a rubber-like protection as a base, so anyone can place them on the floor or an unclean surface without dirtying them unnecessarily, and make cleaning easy. This also has a benefit : it avoids seeping and soaking !!!! Obviously, the rain protection should also have such a base. Hope this gives everybody something else to think in selecting a backpack for a definite use and need. Regards to all.

Kalidi's good point is just very cheaper than Boody. But Item Quality?? Well, price have means in capitalism and LOW PRICE HAVE THE REASON.

Would the zipper of the Bobby break as easily of the Kalidi in the same situation? If so, maybe it meas something for overall quality, and might be worth looking into that. Here the price of the Bobby is the same of the Kalidi, so for me price is irrelevant in your comparison.

I think I got one lower then both mine opens the three different way but has only one zipper pocket on strap no outside pocket behind the straps . The usb port is just a plastic tic cover where u just run the cable thru and the seams one is sewn crooked so I guess I didn’t even get the copy of the copy any way to tell the knock offs .. got it thru a ( offer up ) app. Gonna report the person who sold it to me for misrepresenting a item ..
