After several comments from people, it seems that the Kickstarter version (in this video) of the Bobby Backpack is quite different from the retail version. Key differences are that there are no internal: zipped side pockets or sleeve at the top.

When you insert the card in the strap, you should push it downwards and it should secure your card and prevent it from falling. I always do that and no matter how I hold my bag, the card never fall out.

Unfortunately no way.. 8 is way too much for any style of anti-theft backpack...Depends on the book size though, but still highly unlikely. It's not designed to carry that much stuff.

One of those videos where you quickly find out the video author hasn't even truly tried the packs out for each feature. The card part should be obvious, that it slides down into it's pocket, thus securing it, if you had used it, or something similar.

I like the Bobby best for comfort and functionality. Like all bags you have to choose the one that does the job. Which is why I have several different bags, Backpacks for travel, hiking and courier bags and totes depending on what on going to do. I don't think the Bobby would make a good school bag for books, folders and computer. There are better options for school backpacks but for travel and walkabouts the Bobby is awesome.

Nice video! A comment to improve your vs-video is would be nice If you can demonstrate the backpacks handlers while in a real situation that means showing It with a person carrying the pack and youtrying to pull for example. Thank you!

Water bottle design access can’t be ignored, if your strolling around town access to a drink is vital. With this you can take a coffee and a water bottle.

Interesting comparison between the two competitive "anti-theft" backpacks - thanks for working on that. I have the Bobby Compact but I am looking at the RiutBag X25 or R15 (as I need more space for my daily commute to work and back). It must be the R15.2 version the one you are reviewing, featuring this clip mesh divider; I hate it not only because it reminds me of bat wings but also because it seems it can only be used for holding large items like clothes and A4 paper-sized notebooks. If I am not mistaken, the R15.3 version has a full size mesh divider to hold everything that is stored in the large compartment, addressing this issue. Even though the Bobby has these pockets you demonstrate (zippered and non-zippered) for better internal organization, I agree that they are smaller than expected, so they hard fit e.g. USB cables or other material that doesn't go into the rest of the pockets (but it has plenty of them e.g. the side ones). I would personally like better the Riut approach, with a compartment for larger, bulkier items (like clothes) and fewer (but larger) pockets for work-related stuff like cables, hard disks, powerbanks etc.

It wasn't until I watched your comparison here I noticed that my Bobby is missing a couple of internal features like yours. I think you got the kickstarter one and I bought mine way after so I assume it's the retail version. Interestingly mine doesn't have the little sleeve bit at the top of the inside like yours, nor do I have those two little zip side pockets inside like you show on yours. Strange.

I asked Riut if they were gonna make the bag slash proof. Sarah Giblin answered that it's not slash proof, but because all of the important stuff (your laptop/tablet/wallet) is in the flap against your bag, it will be save when the back of the bag is slashed. For me this is enough. Thanks for this comparison. Been waiting for this, because I'm still struggling to choose one of these bags. Was and still am considering the Riutbag over the Bobby. And after this review I decided on the Riutbag (but the R10 version).

well i got the bobby ...is very good backbag but at the main black plastick-leather marks appear very fast.also the starps arent very tight.

Hope you read this in FACT you are wrong about Bobby The card can be secure if you push it down it will locked and secure! so when you intrudece then push it down!!! try again!

one year later after "how not to pack your Bobby backpack" video and still brain dead. you can easly put your card deeper into this hidden strap pocket. i figured that out in like 2 minutes after getting this backpack. and the usb cable can also be hidden deeper or just put in this little long powerbank pouch. youre just spreading misinformation.

The Riut was actually launched 1st I backed both of them, and like both for different reasons; love the top pocket of the Riut, but I'm not a fan of having to move the back straps away, to be able to open the main compartment; prefer the overall depth of the Riut, which is slimmer than the Bobby but, really enjoy having the ability to add the power bank to the inside of the Bobby, and just charge my phone on the go... Hard to tell which one is better... It really depends on what your going to use them for
