Around 2010, just a few years before dubstep became a modern mainstream thing, I stumbled upon a pretty underground party. It was all messy, dark and dirty. Electronic music was never my thing and you don't often find me at these parties. But I really dug the sound that night. I didn't know what this music was and asked around. People told me it's called dubstep. The search for "dubstep" on YT didn't lead me to the music of that night, and when I went to a dubstep party years later it wasn't the same music. Here we go! Years later, I think I've finally found a few tracks from that night! Thanks man! Whooooo!!! And thanks to the Skrillex hate video :D

Late 1990s is a bit too early for this sound as you're saying in your description. It was jungle, broken beats, garage and 2-step at that point, 2002 is a better timeline for the early evolvement of Dub with a club night called "FWD>>" which is where Hatcha, Benny Ill, El-B and Plasticman (Plastician) started popping up. Skream didn't hit the scene until 2005 maybe 04. Coki definitely wasn't wilding out with his sound design until 05/06, then he went insane in 07/08 and it all started from there.

Also damn I really really love coki too, I'm an american so idk as much about what the dubstep scene was like in the early 2000s but whenever I listen to coki, his beats are just incredible and groovy, he never made a chune that's missing groove, I also think coki may actually be the most influential dubstep producer because he was like the first producer to add a lot of mid high end crazy ass wobbles onto his sub bass and honestly I feel like he must of been the biggest pioneer for dubstep cuz if u listen to modern brostep, it's all been influenced by the strange crazy wobbles that u hear in almost all of coki's chunes
