A theory: the green axolotl is a special variant that will spawn in the lush caves, and since the lush caves aren't added yet, there is no green axolotl right now. Edit: OMG This is the first time I've had a comment be this popular! Thanks!

I worked in a lab with the largest axolotl colony in the US and I am SO happy they’re getting the love they deserve

@@hollie4069 We studied regeneration inhibition, so we put them to sleep, severed their tails, and observed how much they grew back under different conditions. Severing their tails sounds gruesome but they regenerate so fast that they don’t bleed and the tail nubs heal before they wake up, so it’s not painful to the axolotls

I like the fact the blue axolotl has a 1/1200 chance. 1200 is a special number because it's the amount of axolotls still left in the wild.

Fun fact: Despite axolotls seeming immortal, they just have some skill that keeps them in some juvenile stage. They can turn into adults, but they live shorter

Axolotl are adults. They can regenerate lost limbs. But they are not immortal. Tiger Salamanders are aquatic as juvinile and then land living as adults. Axolotls never reach that final morph stage. So they are aquatic their entire lives. They're endangered in the wild due to their habitats being destroyed. However they are THRIVING in captivity.

Don't be sad guys i created a resource pack about axolotls and in this resource pack i added a very similar green axolotl. This green axolotl is rare, i did set the chance for 2%, but not too rare, like the blue (mudkip) axolotl originally. But i replaced the blue one with this green axolotl too and no more brown. Just pink, cyan blue, golden yellow and the rare green one.

I put a bunch of axolotls in the ocean. Now I have a constant stream of bone, fish and rotten flesh.

I'm amazed that Mojang doesn't add sharks and their reason is that they endangered but they exelotl's. (Yes I domt know how to spell the new mob)

It’s axolotl, also they said they don’t want to add sharks because they don’t want people to feel fine with going near sharks irl or something
