Sounds great! We had a 240 in a '66 F100. I didn't appreciate that engine family at the time. It had a crank bearing problem. From what I've heard about the durability of these engines, it sounds like we just got a lemon.

@@1vester1 Maybe a 480 spreadbore might go better, seen other sixes suffer excess fuelling with 600's, creating a lot of fuel blow by into the crankcase. Just a thought, that cam might be big enough to use the extra fuel

I'm doing a very similar build as yours and was wondering if you did anything for the heater plate on the bottom of the manifold for the carb? I've read conflicting opinions on whether it's actually needed or not. Some say you're fine without it, others say find some way to run exhaust gas under the manifold, and others say to use a block and run the coolant through it(while others say don't because the coolant could seep through the manifold).

i really wanna know what a 3" offset inlet 3" center outlet flowmaster 40 delta flow would sound like with hedman headers and a flo250300 flowmaster 2.5 to 3" y pipe... run about 6 foot of pipe off the muffler and dump in toward the ground, give it a 260 or 268 cam and run the hell out of it. im guessin itd have a hell of a flat strong powerband to it from 1000-5000 rpm with plenty of torque til the horsepower takes over
@kylewalker63755 жыл бұрын
For the 268H Comp Cam the torque curve gets moved up to start at around 2000rpms, the 260H is much more of a towing or "torque" cam as the torque curve starts at around 1,000-1,500. The 252H is one of the best towing cams as its curve starts at about idle. Cams for the 300 don't make any more power(A meager if any difference) they just move the torque curve around. It all depends on what you want your engine to do. Almost every cam manufacturer makes at least one cam for the 300, comps isn't the only one. There's also Crane, Schnieder, Isky...... The only reason I talk about the Comps is because they're the most popular and off the top of my head.

What a carb for that engine! Geepers! You'd get better HP and mileage with cold air intake. Get that hot air away from the breather. Looks great though.
@ah-yp6vp7 жыл бұрын
Hey knucklehead ur better off with a short ram intake (hot air intake) for better fuel and off the line BTW this straight 6 sounds badass... You wont kill that son of a bitch
@mwilliamshs6 жыл бұрын
Cold air intakes can make more horsepower. Guess how they do it? Cold air is more dense than warm air, so an engine can breathe more oxygen molecules with the same displacement which means it can burn more fuel and thus make more power. It's the same principle as supercharging, turbocharging, and nitrous oxide: more oxygen means more fuel and more fuel means more power. HOWEVER, burning more fuel does NOT mean better mileage. A proven method for improving fuel mileage is forcing the engine to breathe warmer air, not cooler. CAI does NOT mean more mpg. Period.
@ChrisEdwards458 жыл бұрын
I'm in the process of getting all these for my truck as well. How think is the spacer you got under your Edelbrock? I was looking at one that was .850 thick but was not sure if it would be high enough for the throttle linkage..also what springs are you running in it to keep from coil bind?
@gregj58158 жыл бұрын
+Blackbeard 45 Ithat is 2in spacer. And far as springs I am using the recommended ones from comp. and all intake retainers on the springs to get the correct setup height. If you are going to do a lot of towing I would not use that cam unless you have some deep gears.. I have like 3.30 gear and it sucks pulling. vac is so bad it will not hold the vac doors closed to make the a/c blow on the panel blows out the defrost.. Let off the gas to create vac bammm cold air back to panel.. Just fyi
@ChrisEdwards458 жыл бұрын
+greg j yea I still have the original gearing in mine.lol thought about switching them to some 3.55's but with mine still an automatic 3speed C4 trans not sure that'd be a good idea until I get a 4 on the floor so I got that extra gear. But yea I never haul anything except for small loads of wood occasionally. So I might get the 268H bc I don't have A/C or a smog. Just a simple reliable everyday truck.haha but thank you for the info man if you have any other information it's definitely appreciated
