My first paintjob I used hand scotchbrite and Comet. Zero fisheyes or contamination issues. That Chlorine in there really cuts any oils or greases.

Kool trick on the roof, never thought of mixing different ratios for different parts.

Car came out slick! I used to paint a shit ton of benzes back in the day ( my boss and his friends and family all drove Mercedes). When masking the hood ornaments I would turn them a quarter turn before masking. That way when you spray the hood the ornament is oriented in the same direction that you’re spraying. Not a big deal but it saves you from having to spray behind it. Keep up the videos, they’re very informative!

In my area professional paint job ist about 3000€ to 6000€ depends on the car size and thats way to much. Old video, I know but I have a question. At 2:35 you start spraying and I can see a few spots on the bumper where the paint has chipped off (black plastic showing). Won't that create a visable ridge in the finished paint? Is it feathered and I just can't see it? Do the paint coats fill in the low spot?

Oh man - I just did my doors a few hours ago and accidently mixed the Speedokote Bright White 1:1 with SS-1260 Fast Acivator instead of reducer.. It laid nice, but am I hosed? I was hoping to get an answer before I run out of time to do the Speedokote Glamour Clear in the morning. Thanks for another great video!

Marko, if you have a 10 year car with scrath marks in the clearcoat, not into the bas.- If I polisch out the scrath marks and get a nice clean sourface and get back the shine, could I just put on a thew clearcoat layers on top?

After scuffing with the 400, you didnt use sealer, so its not really necessary for a lon lasting topcoat?

Reducing the amount of activator may be a bad idea. Your UV protection often in the activator, not the paint . So less activator may mean less UV protection.

Nice! Hey man another video suggestion. Get a car with shitty peeling clear coat and nasty paint chipping. Due to defective paint etc. And see how you would tackle that and bring the vehicle back to decent looks.

First
