Coming from a small town in BC, teaches you a lot of survival skills, practical "life" skills and basic social skills, but it teaches you almost nothing about the world. I am thankful for the skills I have from my home town, because that is the skillset that has allowed me to pursue this current travel business with the rig, but I also learned a lot while I was pursuing other paths before covid. My time on cruise ships taught me so much more about the world, and since Covid I have not been able to explore further into that curiosity. This series is a risk and a test, but it's something I truly have to do. I owe a lot of my success to the folks around the world that educated me and encouraged me to pursue stories of interest and culture, instead of politics and outrage. In the grand scheme of Social Media business pursuits, I suppose I have chosen the hard path, but the product is something I am, always proud of and so happy and excited to share.
This series is exactly that. It is adventure, it is risk, it is culture and it is travel, but it is all with a purpose. I want to share with you the aspects that changed my life. The things that made me think and question what I was taught growing up. This video is based around food, but it really is so much more than that. I hope to entertain you all, but a small portion I hope to impact a little more. Most will not read this description, but if you do, you're probably the demographic that will experience that impact the most. I will never truly be able to translate the impact and change I have experienced from traveling, but I will absolutely do my best to share that transformation with you. If you experience a bit of change yourself, I am eternally grateful for that.

A path not taken. In the early 1980s, I was a newspaper photojournalist in a modest-sized, slowly-dying Ohio city. I got to be friends with a local freelance photographer. One day, he told me that he’d accepted a job on a cruise ship, and they needed another photographer and he could get me hired onto the ship. I thought about it, but decided no. Until seeing this video, I never thought about what I might have missed by not taking that job. Interesting how your ancient past can be reframed by what you learn today.

Mate, what I love about your interviewing style, is that it completely focuses on the subject. It feels as if they’re talking to us. I’m always stoked when you get someone to have a chat on camera. Some of my favourite vids of yours have had this. She was definitely a fun lady, a bit cheeky and full of happiness. As always, great work. Cheers from Tasmania!

That was fun! As a young man I lived in Japan for 2 years while I was in the Navy back in the late 1970's. I bought a motorcycle to travel around which meant I spent 2 years getting lost because I don't speak or read Japanese. I would always seek out the small mom and pop little restaurants to eat in, and needles to say I ate some things I wouldn't want to step on. I have a lot of fond moments in Japan. Great job keep up the good work.

Man, this brings back so many memories, my mom loved Japanese culture and we as kids learned Japanese words and how to use chop sticks when we were still very young. When I got older, my mom and I went to Japanese cooking classes together. She learned to speak, read and write the language. Sadly, she is gone, but I will always remember those times. Thanks Dustin for such a great video and the ability to remember the good times I had with my mom : )

Dustin, that certainly does have an impact on me too, it clearly does show that travel is in my heart too. I love all the human interaction you have and all around the world - it does reinforce with me that although it might be the other side of the world, discovering a new culture, or diving deeper [ha! you see what I did there ;o) ] into a culture, but underneath, there are so many beautiful people, their minds and souls just waiting to be found - are we in fact all that different? Much love and thanks for continuing to take us along with you matey ☺ In advance, as it's coming up fast now - I hope you, your family and friends all have a wonderful Christmas 🎄🎉🎁
