I plan on buying 1 of those levers, but you need to get all the credit for my purchase. I have been on the fence about installing a rekluse radius X in my FC450, but you made it for me. Sell the rekluse and buy the lever. What I do not like about the rekluse is that for racing it doesn't work fast enough and adds moving parts. I do Ike the improved action. Also 450s have clutch destroying torque. If you ride 3 times a year the yz250 is a great bike. Broadest power delivery, easy set up suspension components, and good durability/reliability.

I’m wondering if the 2024 300 XC-W’s power can be made just a bit more muscular by installing an XC cylinder head insert. If the part numbers are different, the XC insert might raise the compression ratio. There might be squish band differences too. That could be an easy engine hop up. Thanks for keeping it real, Morgan. See you down the trail.
@highlandcycles

Would love to see you do a Budget EZ clutch on Zak's bike, 9mm Brembo Master + Magura Piston Spring swap + Pressure Plate on Setting 1 and see how that stacks up to the Expensive EZ Clutch..... and/or How the Clake One Light Clutch stacks up I think is very similar to the EZ cutch , but it actually includes and a Master Cylinder as one whole unit
@highlandcycles
@highlandcycles Жыл бұрын
They do but they are also more expensive. I don’t think we will be doing all of this because this is Zach’s bike and I’m Letting him decide on what we do. We will see. I can say that changing the position on the spring isn’t a good idea. Those aren’t for clutch feel adjustment. They are to get the proper preload (spring washer flat) on the spring

Morgan, do you think it’s worth the added cost for the 300xc, or would it be better to buy the 300 sx and modify it with a bigger fuel tank, 18” rear wheel, etc? I know you get more off road specific things, and the sx only is a 5 speed transmission, but is it worth the extra $1900? The new 2024 also has the new spring forks,

I don't need to watch this video because it's Loretta all the way. If you are a single track only person then XC-W all the way. 6500 kit , revalved, pipe, and all the other parts. The best out of the box suspension can always be improved. I have always felt that there should be a modified shootout. My 15 tc250 stock valving stacks were garbage out of the box. Excellent power and handling. The best brakes and the worst suspension.

Instead of this $400 clutch thingy, I watched the install video on it, looks like lots of small parts in it to malfuntion, break, wear out , get affected by dirt, water you thoughts on that? .... have you guys ever tried running a 9mm Brembo Master, they can be had for about $160, seems to be a popular enduro Mod I hear Pros Like Littenbichuler run it , how much lighter will the brembo 9mm get you?. @Dat_Sun Жыл бұрын
I built a new 22 yz250fx for single track. In the end, it felt heavy and was prone to flame out when you wouldn't expect it to. Also, it's painfully slow to start and often requires a second attempt when hot. Heavy flywheel, G2 throttle cam, hymec hydro clutch, revalved and sprung. Not a bad bike, but not ideal on single track and untimely feels as heavy as a 450 in tight situations.

Why does the w have the thick cast looking triple clamps and not the thin ones like the XC? Seems odd.
@MechShark
@MechShark Жыл бұрын
Billet clamps are used to stiffen up the steering, that's why they're usually a factory racing accessory. But the trade-off is comfort, more force transfers to bars/hands. XC-W models have biased towards comfortable trail riders, so I'm guessing they did this to offset the stiffer new closed cartridge forks.

@@scarsmanYou have to pull in the Midwest lever farther to disengage the clutch. Although it’s a lighter pull, it gives a totally different feeling that some people don’t like, and it takes time to get used to. They’re also not plug and play. They need to be adjusted, and they’re finicky, it’s easy to have it adjusted so that your clutch is never fully engaging and is slipping slightly and you don’t realize it.
